Reinstalling vista home premium!

Hi! I've bought hp pavilion a6030in desktop last year. This is my first computer, and i didn't had much experience then, I had some problem with it (virus) and I took to the dealer and he suggested to install windows XP, and I did as he suggested, but since it was a pirated windows XP, I had problems updating from microsoft. I went back to the dealer to ask to reinstall vista that was preinstalled, but he says I have to buy a new key.
Can you guide me to this matter and give me proper suggestions.
Plz reply soon. Thanking you,
Samphel

Before you spend any money, try this:

Reboot your computer. As soon as it begins booting watch for a short message like,
"For Setup Press F10, for Recovery Press F11".

If there was a Recovery partition on your computer, it may still be good.

Press the noted F key for Recovery. (If you miss it, try again. You only get a few seconds to make the selection.) It will open a program that you can run to reinstall your system the same way it was when you purchased it. If you have important files on your drive, back them up because they will be lost when you run the Recovery program.

I believe the cheapest route to go would to buy a new Windows XP CD with the a new Product Key. I've seen it on some sites as low as $50. Ebay being one suggestion. If cost isnt really option and you wanted Vista then you might go ahead and get a new copy of Vista. I know Vista requires more system resources to run but since it came pre-installed on your system there shouldn't be any problem in putting that Operating System back on.

I need activation key for vista home premium can anyone help pls

There are several software solutions which can redeem your Operating System serial key. You are using Windows Vista HP as the OS, so using these softwares would lead you to the Product key of Vista and other softwares that are installed onto your computer.

To download the best software (according to me) in Zip format, click on the following link: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/downloads/keyfinder.zip

After downloading this file, unzip it with WinRar or other other similar programs. Now you will find two files in it, Keyfinder.cfg and Keyfinder.exe. Double-click on keyfinder.exe, and this should open up a new window with your OS information and serial key.

For your convenience, I've attached a screenshot below:

If the above program didn't help you, you may try using other programs also. For other programs, go to this link: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/productkeysactivation/tp/topkeyfinder.htm

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay

Vista sucks anyway, and anything that can run Vista should be able to run Windows 7. This is a blessing in disguise. Buy Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade and install it.You legally qualify for the upgrade version if your computer came with Vista. You can use instructions here to make the upgrade version work on a clean disk:http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/clean-install-windows-7-from-the-upgrade-disc/

Hi Yin THu ,

"This Copy of Windows is Not Valid"

You must activate your copy of Windows. Good old Micro$soft has Vista connect to the internet and automatically check to see if you have registered your copy. Since you had to reinstall, it now thinks you have a duplicate (and illegal) copy. So now you'll have to spend an hour or so on the phone to get another key.

Microsoft is the only place to get product keys for Microsoft products.

My hp, windows Vista will not copy to my lexmark all in one

I know you said you have the latest drivers but just confirm you do with that link, I checked the compatibility and it is good with Vista so you should not be experiencing any issues. Try doing a complete uninstall and printer reset then running that downloaded driver, only plug in the printer to the computer when requested.
