Question about Olympus Zuiko 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Digital ED Telephoto Zoom Lens for Select Cameras

Zuiko 70-300 evolt 300 malfuntion at start up

With the 70-300 in place, turning the camera on causes the sswf light to stay on with no menu or viewfinder image available. If I turn the camera on with no lens in place or with a different lens in, the sswf blinks, turns off and allows the menus and image to appear as it should. If I attach the 70-300 at that point it works just fine, until the camera goes to sleep. Then nothing works and the blue light stays on.

When I attach my Olympus Zuiko 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens the camera will not function.

When I turn my camera on with the regular lens it works, and if I leave the camera on and attach my 70-300mm lens the 70-300mm lens will work until I turn off the camera.

With the camera off and I have attached the lens the blue SSW light stays on but the camera will not function or can I use the lens.

How to change kind of batteries when camera won't stay on to get to menu

My experience is the batteries have not made any difference. It asks you to have to turn off the camera and remove lens cap. When that is done, its the same issue. Currently my Nikon's lens is out and no matter what batteries I place it in it won't come on! Had to purchase a Sony to replace it! Wish you luck but the batteries don't seem to make a difference.

Will the Zuiko 70 - 300mm f/4-5.6 ED lense fit my E520 body?

Yes, no problem at all. The lens is a Four-Thirds mount and that's what your camera is designed to accept.

What kind of device are we talking about here? Actually, it doesn't matter, since this type of problem almost always requires servicing. Servicing or buying a new camera is always a process you have to make the call on. Get an estimate from a camera shop, and go from there.

I have the 70-300mm and for some reason i cant get it to focus either on auto or manual. it was working ok on day then took it out in the snowy weather and it wouln't work. can anyone help?

Quick temperature changes may cause this. I have the same lens. May be you must clean the pins while attaching lens to the body. If this information will help you please give your vote. Good Luck.

Zuiko 70-300mm lens focusing problem

Haha!!
Maybe its something you're not doing, LOL.
Look on the side of the lens. Most of the 70-300 macros have a slide switch. My Tamron, for instance, needs to be zoomed out to 300, then slide the switch to Macro and its ok. Look for the slide switch. You might also notice lines of a different color to denote Macro.
Some days it too tough to be smarter than the lens,
LOL.

Zuiko 70-300mm

I spoke to our local J&A Camera shop who gave me a short tuition on the lens.
Most of this I was aware of.
Thank you to J&A and yourselves.
