Go to printers an uninstall, or remove that printer. Then Go to HP.com, and download the correct software and follow those directions exactly, specifically do not use Plug and Play.
DONT CONNECT PRINTER WHILE INSTALLING PRINTER SOFTWARE....IN THE MIDDLE OF INSTALLATION IT ASKS TO CONNECT PRINTER............. THEN ONLY INSTALLED PROPERLY
I've seen this a few times with Vista but each time it seems to be something different. The first thing to be done is make sure you have all the current Vista updates and including SP1. Once that is done I would completely uninstall the HP software. Then download the latest version of software from HP and install. Vista has alot of qwerks that sometimes defy answers.
Please do the following
1. Go to Control Pannel then sellect Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all HP Software.
2. Disconnect all Prinetrs
3. Go to Control Pannel then sellect Printers and Faxes make sure there is no Printers in there if there is delete them
4. Install Psc 2210 software and follow instructions on when to connect printer.
Your computer crashing several times a day is the bigger issue here. You need to resolve this first. Update your OS software, your disk probably should be wiped, reformatted and reinstalled cleanly. After that, I suspect that your printer problems will go away.
