Question about JVC GR-DX27 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Open Question

Failed capture I have tried to capture video using Windows MovieMaker2, ImageMaker, Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premire, WinDV... through the FireWire port. All show the same issues. Cam is recognized and controllable by the progams but video capture fails -- no video is shown on preview screen. All hardware, cables and ports work fine with other peripherals. I've searched the web and others seem to have this problem using Windows XP, FireWire port, and late model JVC miniDV cams. JVC is as helpful as ever, as is Microsoft. Could there be a driver incompatibility with these JVC cams? Any updated FireWire drivers that may work?

Here's what you will end up doing. ANALOG CAPTURE. I could help if we knew more about the HOST PC/MACINTOSH machine. It's only my opinion that to get a FIREWIRE ANALOG VIDEO DIGITIZER is not a great idea.

SOURCE: Problem connecting JVC GR D370U

My camera is a JVC GRD370.
JVC seems to only work with firewire (iee1394) that uses the Texas Instrument chips.

I ended up having to buy a PCI card for my PC that specificaly had the Texas Instruments IEE1394 chip.

Worked fine after that. No special drivers, Windows XP automaticly installed the Firewire drivers for the card, and auto-detected the camera.

SOURCE: My computer no longer recognizes my JVC GR-D70U mini DV cam when I plug it into a usb port.

Hi, I am not sure. But I believe the camcorder has to be on when you connect to the computer. and I assume you use firewire for this particular camcorder.
I too once had this problem when I used Windows Vista. If you too use Vista, try it with Windows XP.

To transfer video from this camcorder to a PC, you need a 1394 cable (also called a "Firewire" cable, and your PC must have a 1394/Firewire connector as well. You can use Movie Maker (which comes with Windows) as the capture software, or you can download Scenalyzer (shareware), Studio (from Pinnacle), or Vegas Movie Studio to do the capture.

How can i transfer videos from DCR-TRv 460E TOCOMPUTER

It is very simple. Install a Firewire (IEEE1394) card in PCI slot (if you don't have any video capture card) and connect DCR460E camcorder to PC through iLink cable. You need a video editing software like Ulead Video studio, Pinnacle studio or any other to be installed in your PC. Then go to capture mode of that programme and capture transfer video to PC hard disk. Windows movie maker is also do the same. For editing and better special effects you should use hihger versions of ulead or pinnacle. Thank you.

Drivers are already preloaded for your camcorder as long as you are using Windows XP or Vista. You will need a program to capture the video to your computer. Pinnacle Studio will work for your camcorder.

Once the firewire cable is installed and the camcorder is turned on, pinnacle studio will give you the option to load itself up.

Using Windows Movie Maker

Windows Movie Maker is pretty picky about file formats. You might want to use Pinnacle Studio. This way once you plug your computer in and turn it on Pinnacle will capture the video for you which is something that Movie Maker was never designed to do.

PV GS39 Win XP Movie Maker

I don't know if Windows XP Movie Maker can detect a firewire based video camera.

Do you have DVD burning software such as Nero in your computer? That has capture capability to it.

Pinnacle Studio will detect a firewire camera. It is reasonably priced and easy to use. In fact you can control your camcorder from Studio in case you need to rewind or fast forward the tape.

Capture digital video using Panasonic PV-GS12 and USB

Here's what I learned. 1. Connect with FIREWIRE. It's all of under 10 bucks if you shop around. 2. Use WINDV to capture if you need to. Hint: Free. 3. Use better software than what comes with the camera.
