Remove main battery and power on, if no change! power supply should be checked, if okay! the DC jack in the computer is a common issue, the laptop will need to be taken apart to access the motherboard for repair, a job for a professional.

Laptop shut down

Sounds like it is getting too hot. Does it feel real hot when it shuts down? Is the fan and power supply working well and unobstructed so they get good air circulation?

Gateway Laptop with windows 8. Mouse pointer gone and won't come back

See if the mouse pad has been accidentally turned off. This can be done via the "Function" button on your Gateway laptop. To enable your mouse clicker again on your Gateway, head on over to the "Control Menu" in Windows and double-click on the "Control Panel" icon. Click on the "Mouse" option under the "Printers and Other Hardwareicon1.png" tab. In the next menu that pops up, click on the tab listed as "Device Settings." From this menu, you should be able to locate a listing for the mouse pad on your Gateway laptop. Click on this listing. From here, you should be able to enable the mouse again. Click "OK."
  • Head over to the official Gateway site online (see Resources). The above enabling of the mouse device under "Device Settings" may not have worked. Make your way to the "Software and Drivers" area of the site.
  • Check over your Gateway manual and find your specific serial number for your machine. Enter the number into the Gateway site when prompted and check to see if any driver updates exist for your mouse on your machine. If so, click to download the update, and then double-click the file on your computericon1.png to install it. Restart your Gateway laptop to have the changes take place. Your mouse should now work.

Gateway MX8711 Shuts off while running

I suggest you take your laptop back to the repair shop and tell them you still have the same problem. There should be a warranty covering the repair for a period.

DVD stuck, computer won't turn back on

If you look at the door of the CD/DVD tray/shelf, you should see a little hole. Stick a paper clip into the hole and it will pop out the CD/DVD tray/shelf and you can get your DVD back. I would call Gateway support to fix the rest of it. If it is still under warranty, they can send out a tech to fix it.

I have a gateway 450rog laptop and the problem is

Yes, it could be the battery is no longer working correctly. To isolate this, try to test your laptop.

    1. Remove the battery
    2. Connect the power adapter to the laptop and turn the laptop ON.

Once the laptop work without any problem, then it's the battery. You may need to check if the laptop is still under the warranty and have the manufacturer replace the battery.

    Have a great day!

Laptop starts and after a few seconds shuts down

Could be overheating, or possibly a motherboard gone bad. Try taking the battery out, unplug from power cord, hold down the power button for 20 seconds, put battery back in and see what happens.

M6307 Gateway Laptops overheats and shuts down

Have you called Gateway? This is definitely a mother board or CPU problem, both probably caused by a slow acting fan. Gateway should replace these.
