As soon as I switch this webcam on and the picture appears on screen, my computer freezes. It appears to be a conflict in windows. I am using XP and Zone alarm.

First disable the zone alarm firewall and then check.
If you still have the same problem, increase the virtual memory, uninstall and reinstall the Web cam drivers.
