I have the Model 3455H and it has the very same problem! I just keep hitting the eject button and it eventually does eject. I really think that the DVD tray needs lubricating underneath/inside and is hanging because it is dry?

@Hello - whenever I try to insert a disk to play it starts reading it (display reads READ...READ and then it stops and displays HO7 and won't play the disk at all. I've had the unit a few years but have...

H07 is a common error code for Panasonic DVD players. It means the traverse unit (spindle motor/laser assembly contained in one block) has failed. Usually it is the spindle motor part of this unit which fails first, (i.e. it doesn't spin the disc at all) causing the problem, but sometimes the laser can also fail as well. Because the motor and laser are contained in one device block, the whole part has to be changed, and this can only be done by an authorised service centre. The only trouble with that is the cost. Many DVD drives experience this (different brands giving different error codes) so it's not just confined to Panasonic.

There are only 2 ways to go here; either be prepared to spend a fortune in a workshop service to have the traverse block replaced/aligned (which would include a brand new laser), or simply buy a new player - which would give you a new remote AND an optional extended warranty if available; this would be considerably cheaper than repairing the old one.

Don't be put off from owning Panasonic - they are generally good products.

When I insert a dvd the player tries to read the disk and then comes back and displays no disk

try playing a disc that you know it has played before. if it does play other dvds then your problen is that it cant read the format in wic dat specific disc u are inserting in there. if it doesnt ready any dvds then insert a music disc in there, if it does play it then u got to change the lens. there is also the possibility then the motor spinning the disc might have gone bad as well so when changing the lens, it is advisable to change the whole lens mechanism.

Have the Samsung DVD-AR650. When I insert a blank

My last recommendation, before seeking a replace or repair; would be to run a cleaner disk. Optical drives can be affected by dust on the optical block lens or dust on the disk itself. Sometimes a dirty lens can even cause your drive to eject the disk when you try to read it. It is recommended you clean your lens every 3 months in an office environment, or once a month if you use the drive in an industrial environment. They range in price from $3 to as high as $130. Panasonic DVD player stuck on Reading

Hi,
I had a similar problem with my Yamaha DVD player which just kept displaying "reading, reading and reading"- eject-no disc or disc error. I took it into be repaired and was told it needed a new optical lense-cost $120.00 plus fitting.I was told not viable to fix. Not convinced I had a look on the internet and a suggestion given was to buy a can of Air Spray from **** Smith,$14.00 later and blowing the proverbial out of the inside of the unit-Bingo it works for about an hour and then, away we go again-reading reading reading - eject-no disc. Back to the internet and i found a DVD technician who advised the more often than not the problem is a dirty optical lense, and he has saved 100's from the grave by the following method. The most effective way to clean it is with a cotton wool bud soaked in Isopropyl Alcohol and give it a good rub without damaging it. I got the Isopropyl alcohol for $12.00 a 250 ml bottle from the local chemist and did what was suggested. IT WORKED and is still going- not sure for how long but the bonus is I can use the remainder for rubbing down my tired old body, as after shave or a refresher, in addition to fixing DVD's so not all is lost. It's worth a try considering I was going to throw the Yamaha away. Thanks to the internet and the good people who share their knowledge I am happy again.
Hopefully it will work for you. If not, don't forget the other uses for the alcohol.

"No Disk" message on front display

If when you insert the disk you hear a whirring and clicking noise, CD spins, and does not read, then that is a problem with the DVD lens.

The DVD lens try to focus on the DVD track, by moving lens pickup and spinning the disk, but cannot read the tracks because the lens is dirty or defective.

Try first cleaning the lens with a DVD cleaner disk. And also if you can see the lens from the outside try blowing some canned air on it.

If this still does not help, then the lens pickup may be faulty, in this case you often replace the whole DVD drive unit inside the DVD player.

Playing recordable dvd

My Emerson won't play anything except DVD Movies, never has, wasn't suppose too. Make your movies in DVD Video format and it will read them fine (unless it's broke). I make movies all the time and play them back in mine. It reads DVD-R, DVD+R, and in duel layered. It will not read RW disks!

Man I've every problem you can imagine with DVD Players. I've found when the disk gets stuck, as long as it's not jammed. You can turn the unit off or unplug it. Plug it back in but DON'T TURN IT ON! Instead hit the eject button and the drive should open the drive without trying to read the disk.
