Make sure there is no dirt in the print cartridge nozzle area and the roller. Make sure there is no paper stuck in. To replace the ink cartrdige properly follow the steps. Also make sure there is no old print jobs pending. You can also uninstall and reinstall the printer

To change the cartridge:

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on and the front paper tray is pulled down, then open the printer cover. (There are illustrated instructions on the inner side of the cover.)
  2. Press the cleaning button (see Figure 6) and hold it for about three seconds until the print head moves left and the power light begins to flash. Warning! Do not move the print head by hand to avoid damaging the printer.
  3. Pull up the ink cartridge clamp until it clasps. The cartridge should rise up from its holder. Warning!Do not remove half-used ink cartridges unless you want to replace it. Once you take a cartridge out, you cannot put it back into the printer even though it is not empty.
  4. Lift the cartridge out of the printer and dispose of it carefully.
  5. Remove the yellow part of the tape seal before placing the new cartridge in place. Warning! Make sure you do not remove the blue portion or try to remove the clear seal underneath the cartridge.
  6. Lower the new ink cartridge into its holder with the label facing up and toward the back of the printer.
  7. Press down the ink cartridge clamp until it locks in place.
  8. If you need to replace the other ink cartridge, repeat steps 3 to 7 before going on to step 9.
  9. Press the cleaning button and close the printer cover. The printer will move the print head and begin charging the ink delivery system. The power button will flash and make various sounds. This will take a couple of minutes and when the charging process is over, the power light will stay on.

If you have tried all the steps I provided and also went through the link I provided then its time we need to get the printer checked by some professional technician. Contact some local tech shop or Bestbuy for the same.

    Thanks

Epson DX7450 won't recognise compatible cartridges

This is a common problem and is caused by faulty or missing chips onthe compatible cartridges. You will need to get them replaced otherwise the printer will not operate. Contact the vendor where you bought them from and ask for repalcements or a refund.

EPSON PRINTERS how to replace inks in epson DX 7450

You must surely have sorted this one out by now Doris! However, if you haven't, how to change print cartridges on a DX7450 is very clearly explained in the user handbook (on the CD that came with your printer). Insert the CD and select "Custom Install" then "Users Guide". Once its installed, double click the new Epson Icon on your screen and selct "Printing" then "Replacing Ink Cartridges". If you don't have a CD, download the User's Guide from the Epson website at http://www.epson.com - just choose your locale, then select Get Drivers and Support - Printers.
