Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Fridge is cold but always runs.

4 yr old fridge bought new. Past few months elec bill has doubled in price and could not figure out why. The other day I was around the fridge and heard it runing. It stoped. Then approx 10 mins later it was on again. I never opened it. I checked this again tonight and find it will run for say 10 mins off for 6-12 mins then back on again. It's cold so it's fine in that dept. I checked the coils under the unit and they are clean. I cleaned them anyway but this on and off cycling is driving me and my funds crazzy. What could it be ???

Please help.
TIA...

I knew there would be something I forgot to add. I did and they seal great. Last night I was next to it and it was runing. After it shut off, I waited and it came on again in about 5 mins. The thing thats throwing me is that it's cold. I also checked the level of the fridge. It's Perfect.

Any thing else it could be ?

    TIA...

Freezer works, fridge doesn't cool

Probably excessive ice in the condensor. Likely defrost thermostat or defrost heater problem.

What happens is excessive ice keeps airflow from the refrigerator part of the unit.

My 3 yr old whirlpool fridge has been constantly running for the last few days. The temps in the fridge and freezer portions are running high and the sides of the fridge are warm to the touch. What they...

" The refrigerator never cycles offThe thermostat cycles the refrigerator on and off. The refrigerator normally runs as long as the temperature inside the refrigerator is higher than the set temperature. If the temperature inside the refrigerator is cold enough and the thermostat still does not cycle off, the thermostat may be defective. If so, you need to replace it, because it cannot be repaired. If the thermostat is not defective, you may have a problem with the sealed (refrigerant) system, in which case you should contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Fridge wont get cold and freezer gets cold then gets warm

Sounds like to me you have a defrost issue. If your fridge is only 2 months old don't sweat it and call out a Whirlpool warrenty certified tech. to fix the problem. And sorry to say age does not matter with fridges any more. The good ole days of fridges lasting 20 years is over now it's 12 years if your lucky.

Refrigerator (Whirlpool) increase in electricity usage

very doubtfull fridge fault would double elec consumption. look at rating plate and see how many watts then equate this to light bulbs. average light bulb is 60-100 watts (uk). does circuit breaker you turned off only control the fridge?
