Question about Riding Mowers & Garden Tractors
I have a 10 year old 12.5 hp murray tractor. It is kept in like newcondition. This is the first problem ever. It has safety sensors in theseat , clutch pedal and blade engage arm. The problem is that after Istart the mower and either try to engage the blade or release theclutch to go - the motor dies. It acts as if you are turning off thekey. I checked the seat sensor with an ohmmeter and it is fine andtried a different battery of known good quality and checked the fuse. All seems okay. I cant seem to figure this one out. Anyone got anyideas I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance , Bill
One of those safety switches is faulty. They allow the ignition voltage through only when in the proper position, or they send it to ground when in the wrong position. Most have both on one switch. Check continuity on each switch. If there two leads, it will either open or close when switched. If there is 4 leads, one side will open while the other closes. One of these is not opening\closing. Good Luck! Papa

Check your key switch. Sometimes the backside will get dirt and grass in between the terminals-thus creating a contact that shouldn't be. Found 2 of these this summer.
