I have a Hampton Bay 54" model # F552S (CH) PB. I am Trying to remove the ceiling cover but am having no luck. I have tried twisting it off but it won't budge in either direction. I tried popping it off but no luck. Is there a certain method to removing this cover without having to cut the ceiling around it to dimantle it?

I have the same problem on a similar model, C552HTT(CH) BLK. I cannot remove the cover!!! It won't turn in either direction and there are no exposed mounting screws.

Does anybody know how to remove this type of cover?

the ceiling cover is actually two pieces... at the very top (top /2 inch section) you can actually twist it about an inch and then pry it down with a flat screw driver revealing the two screws underneath.

There is a 4 position (dip) switch on both the fan housing and the remote. Make sure these switches are set exactly the same and the remote will control the light and fan separately. If not, the remote may be getting interference on the preset frequency - try CHANGING the dip switches to a different setting and the remote should work.

I had the exact same problem. To solve it, I had a friend hold the area of the fan that the globe screws into. I wore rubber dish gloves to get a good grip and pushed up slightly on the globe as I turned counter-clockwise. My friend held the other part and turned clockwise a little as well. It took a lot of pressure for it to finally come loose and then we just turned it about another 90 degrees and the globe slips right out of the groove.

I couldn't believe how hard this was to do.

SOURCE: lost screws to attach fan blades on ceiling fan

This is not a 'promo' for Home Depot but you will find the screws there that you need.
You will need 15 screws, with an 'unfinished' appearance, for the attachment of the five blades to the arms, and 10 screws that have a smooth rounded finish to attach the arms to the motor housing. If they do not have it in stock they can order ot for you.
If you have an electrical fan store in your area you should be able to find the items there as well.
If you have an old discarded ceiling fan, take the screws out of it and try them on your current fan, they should work.
Good luck. :)

hi there i can help. There is a "dip switch" on nearly all fan remote units, much like a garage door opener has. To keep all the fans in your home from operating at one time, each fan needs a seperate "code". To use your other remote, you need to locate the receiver unit in the fan, usually in the "canopy". This is the bowl looking piece against the ceiling. then note the "code" which is the position of the switches. For instance, most have a block with 4 switches, and if the first is "on", and the remaining are "off", that is it's set code. This "code" can be changed to any combination of "on , off" that you like. BUT, you must also open the remote control and set it's switch to the exact same "Code", or order of "on off" as your Fan receiver. (Usually the control "Dip switch" is in the battery compartment.

Removing the ceiling mount from the ceiling of a hampton ceiling

Sometimes there is a small trim piece where the canopy meets the ceiling that "snaps" into place and rather than turning to unlock it needs to be gently pryed off. If you have a small trim piece that makes more than about 1/8 of a turn without unlocking. that is definately what you have.

We have a hampton bay ceiling fan model 54cvt. We cant figure out how to change the light bulb or change the direction of the blades. We dont have a manual for the fan.

This fan is also known as the Hampton Bay Covington 54 Ceiling Fan. You need to turn the globe anti clockwise until it comes out. The full instruction manual can be found here.

If you have another fan model other than the Hampton Bay 54CVT then try here

Light bulb burned out in ceiling fan

THE FAN IS ACTUALLY A WINWARD II BY HAMPTON BAY. ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTION MANUAL YOU TURN THE GLASS BOWL COVERING THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY UNTIL IT MAKES CONTACT WITH A COUPLE OF GROOVES IN THE RIM AND THE GLASS ASSEMBLY SHOULD RELEASE. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY HELP FROM "FIXYA" BUT MAYBE THIS INFO WILL HELP SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MODEL # OF THE HAMPTON BAY FAN WAS 523 342. (I FOUND MY INSTRUCTION MANUAL AND THIS IS WHERE I GOT MY INFO)
