Tecra 8100 screen problem have fitted new inverter but still the same
I have a tecra 8100 and the screen goes off like a lot of other people have said and the answer was to fit a new inverter well I fitted a new inverter but the problem still occurs can be 20 minutes on or 2 minutes on is there any other issues that could cause this it works ok on an external monitor never goes of I thought the inverter being changed would cure it but not so at the moment Maybe its time for the bin

The "back-light" on your LCD screen has failed.
It's about a $20 part that needs to be replaced, but you should pay a qualified technician for one hour's labour to disassemble your computer, replace the part, and reassemble your computer, and test it. $60/hour ???
If your display problem is the screen going dark at random - the most frequently encountered problem with this series - then it's the LCD inverter board - a $5 to $10 part that you can buy on eBay to get it resolved.
Since you didn't state the specific problem, I'll go with the percentage play...
COuld be a simple case of the screen catch hole where the lid locks shut getting stuck (fluff ?) jab it a few times with a paperclip. Worked wonders on an old tecra I had. If it is not this it may well be the inverter which needs changing - this is a kind of starter / voltage regulator fot the FL tube.
