Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Had a new gas hob installed but two of the gas burners only have a very low flame even when turned to high. One of the others has yellow flame tips even on low and is leaving marks on the bottom of the saucepan.

Propane or natural gas? if it was converted inproperly it will leave soot on your pans. also you will see flames when you bake with it or broil.

Gas hob Luce(hotpoint) gas on glass 5ring burners keeps going out on low flame when pull pan drawer beneath out

Same problem with my hob. I adjusted the small jets to their lowest setting in order to be able to simmer -impossible on the bigger jets. The problem is the vents underneath the hob. These can't be closed off so the problem appears to be in the design. The solution I have to use while I save up to by a decent German model is to open and close the cupboard doors underneath the hob very, very slowly.

When one of the gas hobs is on ,it does not burn with a blue flame but a more yellow one .also black soot forms under the burner plate.it is on lpg

Have to adjust the piolot lights for the amount of gas coming out. U have too much gas coming out(yellow flame). On older gas ranges, there was a small screw between the piolot light & burners that had to be adjusted. (if this is a older model) have to turn the screw just a little at a time, till ur flame returns to blue on ur burners. Hope this helps.

The oval burner has only very low flame, even when set on high

Every one of these ranges that I have seen with the oval style burner on them have a smaller flame then the normal round burners. And there is very little difference between the low and high settings. It sounds like what you are experiencing is normal. What the GE repairman was adjusting is called the "simmer stop". There is a small flat head screw inside the burner stem. By turning this screw you can adjust the size of the burner on the low position of the burner knob. This should be adjusted to where the burner still stays on when the knob is at the lowest setting. I do not think that you need the burner repaired. From my experience they are all like that.

does the same burner flame turn blue if other burners decreast in flow-with that burner on high and others low-is it still yellow? if so Gas Valve needs to be replaced.

Low flame even on high

Check the propane regulator if equipped
Check the gas orifices - they may be carboned up and require cleaning
Check the venturi tubes (the tubes that go over the gas jets) - they may have spider webs or other insect cocoons in them
Make sure the gas valves work correctly (high/low)
You mentioned that you replaced the burners - are they correct for the unit and installed ok?
Make sure the gas valve on the propane tank is opened all the way

Yellow flame on our gas burners

Hello. Have you tried replacing the regulator? Sometimes spider webs can get into the burner valve orifices or inside the burner ports. You may even also need new burner valves. Let me know if you need to know where the regulator is.

Gas Hob Flame

Hello
Tha sounds to me like the air mixture nedds to be adjusted on the stove, It's not difficult to do, just rotate it until the flames loose the yellow or your pans will be stained with soot.
The should be by the fittings (convertion fittings), you know?
LP Gas to Natural Gas or Natural Gas to LP Gas.
Hope this help
