Question about U-Line Icemaker

1 Answer

Lack of water in tray.

U-line ice maker becomes extremely  noisy when the water level in the pump tray is low.  Is there away to increase the water flow.  The inlet filter has been cleaned and the water pressure seems ok, not checked with pressure gauge.
Noise seems to be from pump, and goes away when we add water manually.

Check and make sure that as it makes ice that no water is spilling over or out of the freeze tray. only a set amount of water comes in to refill resevoir. if you lose water during the freeze cycle the water level gets below the blades of the pump and it will sound like the pump is tearing up.

Raritan icer-ette only filling 5 of 8 slots in ice mold

They marine ice makers are fussy. The ice maker needs to be level or water will drip down into the ice bin. The amount of water entering the tray is controlled by time. The other factor is pressure. The marine water system has a relatively low water pressure as compared from marina water feed.

I would confirm the number of cubes produced from the unit when connected directly to the city water pressure. If at the highest pressure it is below expectations I would follow the video. How Do Adjust an Icemaker Home Appliances

There is a screen filter before the solenoid line that can fill with debris. So you may need to check it if you can not make a satisfactory adjustment.
If you are like me and always work form the internal water tank avoiding a burst water line and "sink the ship" then adjust it for the lower pressure.

Can it be repaired-not making ice

Ice makers can be repaired. Sometimes it is cheaper and more cost effective to just replace the entire unit for about 50 dollars or less on ebay.

If the freezer temperature is not low enough your ice maker will make ice in tray but not empty it into the tray since the interior temp has to be about 10 degrees for the thermostat to activate the unload cycle.

If there is no ice in the tray perhaps the water line to unit is clogged or the solenoid that feeds the water to unit is malfunctioning. Or, maybe the cam mechanism of the ice maker that controls the solenoid is fubar.

How do i change control board of my ice machine become my father take off the control board

First do you have the new control board ? If not then you need to get with a supply house that sales Manitowoc parts. Now if you have a board or have bought one the here goes. Looking at left top corner of board there is a AC Line voltage electrical plug ( numbers marked on wires ) There is only one that will plug into it. Under that there is a main fuse (7A) then under that is a Automatic Cleaning system (AUCS) accessory plug you wont use it. Under that is the ice thickness probe (3/16 ) connection Marker 1C check water thickness probe and follow wire back to end and plug it to 1C. Now under that one is a spade marked 1F that is the Water level probe terminal go to water level switch in sump tray and find the wire that goes to it and put on 1F. Under water level spade is another spade marked 1G this on is not used on this model. At the left side bottom of board is another plug in this is the DC low voltage electrical plug the numbers are marked on the wires that plug into it there is only one plug that will plug into it.

Machine keeps icing up and switching off

When you say ices up do you mean the line ices up back to the compressor. is water overflowing over sump tray? or is it dumping out drain? If you are not getting water over the evaporator plate then it will frost up the evaporator plat all the way back to the compressor.if the water is dumping into the drain during freeze cycle check the dump valve this will not let sump tray stay full of water. make sure water filter is good as this will not let sump tray stay full fast enough. is water pump pumping water over the evap plate?

U-line ice maker water never shuts off

It's supposed to run down the little gray stand pipe and down the tube to the drain. But, if it's going over the side them the unit is probably not level or there's too much water? The tray migh have warped a little? The exact model number would help me diagnose.
