RCA P52939 TV

I am getting this big screen for free. However they said that the sound card in it doesn't work. Does anyone know what or how much the sound card is and how much it would cost to fix it? I called Sears and the lady couldn't even find a part for a sound card. HELP!!!

There is no "card". There is an IC that outputs the sound to the speakers. When you get the set, see if there are any other specifics that you can list and we'll look for a common cause.

I have a rca p52939 that won't turn on.

Failure of the HV splitter was a very common problem when I was doing these big screens on the road. The set won't come on if the splitter shorts. We used to test if that was the cause by pulling the HV input lead out of the splitter (leaving it still inside the plastic cup so it wouldn't arc anywhere) and turning the set on. Most often the set would fire right up (without picture of course).

I believe the RCA part number for the splitter is 205064, and it's available from a number of sources. I'm not home right now so I can't check. If I have the number wrong I'll post a follow-up comment.

Does the Tv pick up a signal ? ( picture/sound ) If not, you may have a tuner problem as the screen will default to blue with no signal apparent. Could also be a cable problem. Hope this helps

RCA 52" Mdl P52939, PTK195S16B

but there are two
quick things you might be able to do. If it is a PTK195 you can most
likely install the updated power supply board. If you can solder and
know safety (like discharging caps) you can update the PS chip from an
STK730-??? to an STK730-180 (IIRC). I found that simply replacing the
chip with an equivalent fails most of the time. The 180s seem to hold
up.

Vertical sync is an IC function = shop repair = remove light box
and take it to a quality repair facility for an estimate = beware
of "Free Estimates" = pay for diagnosis, get it in writing.Mainly,
I'm finding bad solder connects in this style chassis, sometimes
I work on two or three at a time in my small repair shop........T.
