The best setting on the camera is "Off". You're much better off removing the SD card from the camera and inserting it into a card reader attached to the computer.

If you insist on using the USB link, then select between MTP and PTP depending on whether you want the camera to be a mass-storage device or a camera.

Does your camera have a USB port if so connect cable to computor & switch on camera your computor should recognize a new hardware device and a pop up box will appear giving you the option ofimporting your pictures.Or take memory card out of camera & plug into a card reader then into usb port on computor,If you are using windows click on my computor & click on icon for the memory card & choose copy.
