Question about Panasonic TX-15AT1 15" TV

No power Please help 16" panasonic had no power. when i check out the problem, found that horizontal ic (D1541)was short all three pin, and flyback transformer make a sound. But after i changed new horizontal ic, there's no sound of flyback transformer, and the tv on as per normal.....but after a few second, the horizontal ic was short again. what should i do now?

The D1541 is a horizontal output transistor, not an IC. Your problem is definatly a bad flyback transformer.

Where is horizontal output ic in my t.v?

There is no horizontal oscillator IC. The horizontal oscillation is generated and outputted by the main system control IC LA76810 itself. Refer some circuit diagrams using LA76810 to get more details about the horizontal oscillation output from the IC. Measure the frequency at that output pin. It should be some ever near 15.62KHz.

Why come white vertical line on my t.v screen in center?

But the problem is "Horizontal Output Line" Try that.

UndefinedI've checked a Panasonic crt color tv model TC-21fj20p, and I find a hard way to discover the cause of the problem until now.. The set has a good primary voltage supply. No problem with the IC...

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
Any short circuit at the horizontal output section circuit will shut down all the secondary SMPS voltages, as there is short circuit protection circuit to all Sony TVs.

Replace capacitors CX2105 (35 volts 220 Mf), CX2110(35 volts 100Mf), C2104 (50 volts 1 Mf), resolder resistors RX2115, RX2116,R2118,R2119. You will need to also resolder the vertical IC. I think this IC location is IC 2200, its been sometime since I repaired this one.Do not short the pins together with excess solder. The values on the cap may not be exact. Please use the cap value that is removed (remove and replace one at a time). The locations will be correct! This will remove the horizontal lines or bars across the TV screen. You may as well replace capacitors in the horizontal deflection area. By now you have bad caps there. The locations and values are, CX3218 (160 volts 2.2Mf), CX3205 (16 volts at 100 Mf) CX3413 (50 volts 22 Mf) and CX3416 (25 volts 100Mf). Thanks for asking and show all hands of support.

I have a sony kv-36hs20 that will not turn on it just clicks and the power lite flashes about three different codes i think thats what that means i worked in a tv shop yrs back and have a little experence

hello!since you have an experience in repair,try to have a voltage data on the circuits of your tv..check whether there is a supply output from the plyback secondary,does the heater of the picture tube is lit?if yes your plyback is working fine,,if not,check the horizontal output transistor for any leak,open or it same to the regulator.if these two transistor is bad replace them..check also for any leak capacitors on your horizontal section.there might be a problem in there..same with the capacitors on the power supply section.If The plyback transformer is not switching replace the jungle ic.this ic generates the horizontal pulse to the plyback..good luck hope i helped you..

No vertical deflection, only a thin horizontal line.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A few ideas you may want to consider/explore;
  • While it is true that capacitors do dry out, the values that you posted (22uF & 32uF) are relatively low for the pump/boost capacitor which is responsible for the "top of the picture was a couple of inches short". Normally this should be around 100uF connected between pin8 & pin 12 of LA7836;
  • agree that the Vertical IC LA7836 is busted hence the single line;
  • in most vertical designs, there would be a diode from pin7 that goes to pin12 that needs looking into for a leak;
  • pin7 is the Vert B+ ~ 24VDC while pin1 is secondary B+ 9 ~ 12 VDC. In some designs to accomplish this, there is a dropping resistor from pin 7 to pin 1 and sometimes a zener diode from pin1 to GND parallel with a filter capacitor;
  • pin11 is the vertical output that goes to the yoke. From the yoke some design uses another capacitor (about 1000uF) before going to the ground through a low resistor (~ 1 ohm);
  • above mentioned parts need to be checked out of ciruit preferable and special attention to possible leaks of the diode when testing in reverse bias mode.

The 8V at pin 36 won't show unless there is oscillation, the primary voltage pin is pin 10, 8v. Don't mind me asking, you have checked the B+, right? Because the blinking LED is often because of power supply problems. And if that's okay, desolder the horizontal driver output legs and connect an LED to find if it is oscillating, if it does, forget the ic part and move on with the FBT and things. Good luck.

Put a voltmeter on the vertical I.C .
pin 1 should be 12Vdc
pin 2 should be 24Vdc
from those two inputs, it should be generating at least 50V on pin 13.
If those are not present, trace the power back to its source in the flyback circuit, where a resistor or diode has blown.
If present, check its output on pin 12 and if there, trace through the vertical output circuit.
If not, it may not be getting a trigger pulse from the main video chip.

When the horizontal output (2SC4927) is shorted it means one of 2 things is wrong - the horizontal drive transformer has cracked solder joints or the flyback transformer is shorted inside. If the solder joints on the horizontal drive transformer (the small grey transformer connected to the base of the horizontal output transistor) are cracked then the set will play for a little while and then the parts you just replaced will again be destroyed. ALWAYS resolder the driver transformer when replacing the parts you mentioned! When I replace the parts you mention and I do not see any obvious cracks on the driver transformer then I unsolder the B+ pin of the flyback (labeled 135, for 135 volts) and put a 60 to 100 watt lightbulb (drop-light) in series with the flyback. This means that the 135 volts B+ goes through the lightbulb and then into the flyback, so the lightbulb acts as a current limiter to protect the horizontal output. When you turn the set on the bulb should glow no more than about half bright and you should hear the high voltage come up, but you should not see a picture. If you turn the set on and the bulb glows as bright as if it was plugged into the wall then you can bet that flyback is shorted and must be replaced.

Vertical Deflection problem

i also suspect its just bad solder connections, the vert. o/p ic is maked ic451 look for all the ic's on heatsinks. it should have 10 to 15 pin all in a straight line & be attached to a small heatsink. if i remember right i think if you are looking at the tv from the back it is on the left side near the front (by the buttons/swtitches). resolder all the pins on the ic & resolder the parts just around the ic as they too also develop bad solder connections. just remember to check for shorted pins after soldering. good luck.
