It can be repaired, but only by replacing the LCD panel. The glass in the panel has conductors "etched" into the surface. Break the glass, break the connection. You will probably discover it is cheaper to buy a new TV than to pay to have the panel replaced. If this answered your question, be sure to rate it. Thanks and sorry about your luck.

A 40 inch panel is probably in the $1000 - $1500 dollar range, depending on the brand. There is also a "core" charge added to this that could be as much as $1000. The reason for the core charge is that most manufacturers want the old panel back, because, depending on the problem, the panels may be able to be repaired. Unfortunately, with a broken panel, the manufacturer does not want it back, because it cannot be repaired. So you end up paying the core charge as well.

My screen was damaged and I finally found a new screen for it. How do I get the molding off so I can replace the screen?

You need to remove the two strips one on top and one on bottom of the plastic frame on the front of your tv. They can be easily flip up with a small screw driver. After removing the strip, you will see screws that hold the frame to the TV set, remove all of them then take the metal strip off. remove the frame, the protective cover, then remove the screen. The mirror then need to be sit on the slot of the back cover then hold it with the 3 brackets on the top on the inside of the rear cover.

Blue lines in screen

Follow the steps below after verifying that the issue is occuring on other channels and other video sources.
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.

Just to be sure that I send you in the correct direction, does this strip look like a shrunken picture with no height? In other words is it a horizontal bar?

How to clean inside of screen?

Your tv has two screens on it. The outter screen and the inner screen. The outter screen has a frame around it held on by clips. You can remove this outter screen by gently prying it from the tv. There is a small gape between the outter screen and the tv casing. When prying the outter screen be carefull not to dsanage the tv case or the outter screen frame. Take note of the location of each clips because you will need thses to put the outter screen back on. Clean with a good gentle screen cleaner, (Do Not Use Windex). Philips screen cleaning gel for plasma & LCD works very good. Install the outter screen back on the tv by making sure the clips line up and use light pressure to snap it back in place. Do Not Hit Outter Screen To Force Clips Into Place.. I do this on my tv about once every 6 months or so.
