Axis & Allies is designed to be used with Operating System: Windows 98/SE/Me/2000/XP, therefore I'd suggest to run your Axis & Allies in Vista using Compatibiliity Mode --> Right click on the program icon--> properties-->Compatibility--> select one of the versions above

When I put the CD 1 into my computer the autoplay function comes up and then when I click on run program it starts making noise like its getting ready to do something and then the sound dies and nothing...

I suggest try inserting the CD on a different computer to verify that the problem is not with the CD. If it still doesn't run from different computer, the disc might be causing the problem.

Will not run on Windows 7. Some have reported getting it to run on windows 7, but how they do it is a mystery

Run the Program Compatibility Wizard
  1. Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.

  2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

If you cannot install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the wizard, browse to the program's setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The wizard is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

california is now functionally part of mexico and as such we at NG can no longer include it, or be asked to provide US maps, of the third world spanish speaking empire empire once known as the US state of california..

It will  however be included in our  world map under 'Mexifornia'  for the low introductory price of 89.99 peso available for purchase seperately.

Scooby Doo Case File #1 The glowing bug man - Reinstall problem

I expect youre running Vista or Windows 7. Exact same problem here.
The only way round this is to play the game on a PC running XP.
Even using VMWare virtual machines doesnt work ( the game runs, but is windowed and the cutscenes only display a plain green screen )

So, unfortunately, you`ll have to wipe your PC and install XP or make it dual boot with Vista AND XP - a large task for one small game.
I doubt the programmers will release a fix as the game is over 5 years old now.

When I go to install this program it says No Product Selected

Insert CD. When the Windows prompt that asks if you want to install or view the contents of the CD, choose the latter. Find and click on a folder named "setup." Now click "autorun." Near the very bottom of the folder will be another setup executable. Click this one. The program will install just fine!

Can I foramt Vista Partitions using xp cd?

Yes, Insert the Dell XP disc, and when your computer first stars, in the right hand corner there should be setup and boot devices. Choose boot devices and run off the disc. After that, there will be an option to Format All your drives, (even some you might not know about :P). From there you can install XP onto your laptop.

I tried the following and it works. I had several bad installs and this works. My guess is that the first steps are not necessary, but they won't hurt.

1. Insert the first CD and explore to find the autorun file. Right click and choose properties, and run it in compatability mode with Windows 98.

2. Right click again on the autorun file and choose to run it as administrator.

3. Follow all the regular steps for installation.

4. On the new shortcut, right click and choose properties, run in compatability mode with Windows 98.

5. Finally, right click on the shortcut icon and choose to run the file as administrator.

Good luck. It is a wonderful software I have had for ten years and used on a half dozen computers.
