I have the same make and model lcd t.v. and it too went black. It however is not the adapter. All you have to do is take off the back cover, after you remove the speakers and stand. Then once you get that removed you will see a shinny metal cover on the left side. You have to remove the three silver tiny screws, and remove that cover. you will see the inverter(it looks like a mother boared). Remove all the wire connections carefully, and don't forget the black one at the bottom. Once you have done that there are 3 more silver screws on the left of the inverter. Remove them also. Then the inverter can be removed. Take a knife and scrape the contacts where each wire plugs in. There are 2 in each one exept for the 2 on the right. Just gently scrape them, and look for any bent ones and if any are found straighten them. Then carefully put it back together and it will work like new. If the red light is on the bottom of the screen it means there is power to it. to your amasement it will work!!!

This could be a faulty back light lamp.It is located right at the back of the screen It is an cold cathode lamp supplied by a high voltage from inverter board .Inverter board has a input voltage of 24 volts inverted into 300 volts AC this lamp lights up the screen... You need to open the back cover to check the lamp.....
Return it to Amazon.com.Get a replacement tv.This tv have problems with it 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards,it dying going to be dead. That why u have only a flashes of a picture only a few second, than died, just black screen lelf and have sound.Or talk to Amazon.com customer serviced to get ur tv a warrenty repair.
Immirella, If you don't have extended warranty you will need to repair it yourself or contract out the work. This seems like (from your description
) that one or more of the units DC voltage sources on the "switch-mode-power-supply has failed and is now in partial shutdown mode. Yes, the unit still has operating voltage source for the digital, tuner, and audio circuits. You may or may not see an image on the screen if you hear audio and shine a very bright flashlight 1 inch from the lcd panel. You should pay a visit to YOUTUBE (just FYI) to check-out repair video clips of LCD monitors and LCD tv's. Your unit (FYI) is classed as BLACK SCREEN of DEATH. Same as any other brand of LCD monitor or tv. Call a local repair tech for more info. Good luck. 12fixlouie
Could be the signal board has a bad cap, in this case it sounds like you are getting intermitten power to the inverters....when the tv goes down and of course you have audio....Shine a flashlight on to screen and see if you have a picture...look carefully. If this is the case..you have the above problem!
