Question about Audio & Video Receivers

3 Answers

Due to moving I had not used my McIntosh audio equipment for several months. Was working fine before. Now hooked up as before but no sound out of speakers. PreAmp C-32. Gets power, can hear with headphone plug in. Speaker Control Relay SCR 2. Hear a single clicking sound (as before) when power turned off or on. Amplifier MC 2205. Both blue light panels come on when powered up. No needle movement or sound from speakers when music source turned on. I do hear the music when headphones plugged into preamp headphone plug. No sound when headphhone plugged into amp headphone plug. Have triple checked all connections. Any ideas as to problem in relay switch or amplifier? Easiest way to check would be most appreciated.

If there is no headphone sound on the amp then there may not be no sound input to the preamp inside the amp , first make sure the the switch that changes the speaker set up , like A set , B set , and make sure thats not the problem , then if thats not it you will have to make sure the preamp output is good ( hook it up to another input and or another source )
if that is good then the problem lays in the power amp , try , unhooking inputs , turn off amp , unplug it from the wall for a min. then plug it in and turn it on wait for the click then plug in the inputs ( if the output of the preamp is good
if this all fails to work it will need to be tested and components checked to determine what the problem is exactly

Well if you find problem on your amp. it is better to re check again the audio input / output connections could be a loose connections or you got a wrong connection. or try testing iton the other speakers and check it alone.

If you have any spare speakers (which is working ) connect to amplifier to check whether it is working properly .

I don't know what kind of TV you have and what kind of output capabilities you have but, while your receiver will transfer your video signal, it is not the ideal way to hook it up. The port you are using may have to be reset somehow or, may have gone bad. Ideally you want to hook all video componenets directly to TV then, use, digital optical is best, audio out from TV to receiver. If you have more than 1 input in to TV, you can run your PS3 and cable box directly to TV, using the TV's menu to select which you are using, then, run your audio out to receiver.

Hi, Yamaha audio-video receivers are equipped with a variety of connecting jacks for hooking up different types of electronic equipment. Component AV cables are typically used for hooking up the receiver to a cable TV box. Component cables can also be used to connect the Yamaha receiver to an HDTV, although a High Definition Media Interface (HDMI) cable offers a simpler connection if the receiver is equipped with HDMI (all HDTV sets are equipped with the distinctive, six-sided HDMI jack). The connections should take less than five minutes.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* 2 sets component AV cables
* HDMI cable

Check the back of the Yamaha receiver to determine if HDMI is available. The six-sided jack contains 19 holes set in three rows. If the receiver is equipped with an HDMI Out port, use an HDMI cable to connect to the TV by inserting the plug straight into the jack with the wider end turned upward.

Insert the red, green and blue plugs on a set of component AV cables into the Video Out jacks on the cable TV box, matching the plug colors to the jacks.

Connect the plugs on the other end to a set of Video In jacks on the back of the Yamaha receiver. Make a note of which jacks are used for the connection. Each set of jacks is labeled on the receiver.

Insert the audio plugs on the component cables into the Audio Out jacks on the cable box, using the white plug for the left channel and the red plug for the right.

Attach the plugs on the other end to the Audio In jacks on the Yamaha receiver.

Use a second set of component AV cables to connect from the AV Out jacks on the Yamaha to the AV In jacks on the HDTV only if an HDMI cable was not used.

Also the test tone is working OK (Setup / Speaker Setup / Test Tone)? Have you used automatic speaker setup with the supplied YPAO microphone?
For HDMI, you need to configure the receiver to "take" out the audio from HDMI. Go to Setup / Function Setup / HDMI / Audio and select "Amp" to route the audio to receiver, or "Amp+TV" for audio to go both to receiver and to TV. You can also check in Options Menu / Signal Info that receiver has recongnized the sound and what format it thinks it is in.

Denon avr-1907 sound from TV stopped working

Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).

Pc to denon av 2802

You can use an auxiliary input on your Denon. What type of connection is available on the sound card? Some models have toslink while most have the mini-jacks which will require an adapter (mini-jack to RCA) which you can connect to the AUX input on your Denon. On the computer, make sure the LINE-OUT of the sound card is activated.

Distorted sound on all right channel inputs

yep but if your not a tech you should take this easy repair to a pro. Your problem is an open emitter resitor and happens when the units over driven or a speaker is bad for a while while it was working. if your a tech then check all of the emmitter resistors. also it could be a bad output device. Good Luck
