Well, I'm not exactly sure if it is the cooling fan (you would have to see if its working), but it definitely could be an overheating problem. Another problem could actually be the battery, even if you have it plugged in, the battery can still cause it to shut down. If your computer is able, I would try using it without the battery and see what happens. And I believe that the cooling fan will fit. Here is a good site to help you troubleshoot your problem
