This problem occurs when the Previous version isn't uninstalled properly. The thing is that when a software is uninstalled some files often remain in the system. These files are ofter referred to as "Leftovers".
To resolve this issue Uninstall your software (i.e. Previous version of MS Office) using a special Uninstaller software. You can find one if you google these words "uninstaller".
Alternatively you may also find a complete guide on how to fix this problem at this link
This Common Mapi32.dll Errors occurs because of a corrupt or damaged windows registry. In this case
you can resolve them by using a registry scanner which is updated with
all the most recent information.
Try running a search for the file mentioned (MAP132.DLL) and delete it manually, then try the reinstall again. To search for the file, click start and type the file name. For Windows XP and below click start - search and then enter the file name.
It may also help to uninstall all versions of Office, restart your PC and then try to reinstall. Sometimes certain files aren't removed during the uninstall but during the restart.
Best of luck!

Yahoo! Messenger with voice (7,0,0,426) was compiled with an older version of MAPI32.DLL library. If you use MAPI32.DLL ver. 1.0.2536.0 (very recent: 1999!) it works."""
Above was quoted from a website. Um, is that same version you have now?
This might also help, but first, make note of exactly where your good, working mapi32.dll file is located, and make a copy of it to have for a quick replacement...in case fixmapi.exe puts a not-compatible version back but I dont think it should....
run this file located in c:\windows\system32\fixmapi.exe
You do want to sign out of and be sure ypager is not running before trying fixmapi.
hello
try rename mapi32.dll and msmapi32.dll to the .old extension and start outlook or access if that doesnt work try 1. Delete the contents of the "C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\System\MSMAPI\1033" folder 2. Reboot into normal mode and start Outlook/access, setup will replace the files with the correct version and Outlok will load as normal.
Hello, I may have the solution for you. Effectively, if you repair the installation, or do a reinstall you will lose your E-mail. However since Outlook Express is a fixture in Windows OS, you can use it to create an E-mail account. Create the account exactly as OUTLOOK and import the E-mails in Outlook. To do that press Menu File, Import submenu. You can import all that concerns Outlook. Once your Outlook is repaired or reinstalled, do the same thing. It will ask you to import various things. Point it to Outlook Express and import your E-mails. Hope it helps.
u can go to this site...this will help in case of missing or for downloading dll's or also if there is errors in dll's..! I also registered few dll's from this site...worked in my case :)
After installing, reinstalling, deleting, hard resets, hitting head against wall... I tried installing the Pocket Mirror conduit as a last ditch effort. An error message popped up saying it could not find the mapi32.dll file. I looked at another PC, located that file in the windows32 directory, copied it to my PC, and I was able to hotsync with Outlook. To test this, I uninstalled the Pocket Mirror and Palm desktop SW, then deleted the mapi32.dll. Installed the Palm 4.1.4 sw, outlook 101 update, plus the conduit update, had same error messages. Added the mapi32.dll to the windows32 directory - was able to successfully sync with Outlook!
