Thank you -- I've tried this (many times). I only have oneee UserID on this machine and it has full administrative priviledges. For whatever reason(s), Norton Ghost 14444 will not activate on my machine.

    Thanks,

    Bob D.

Which antivirus previously installed? If any antivirus present then remove it in safe mode.
And better to install Norton in Safe mode
Go to Safe Mode with Networking by Tapping F8 key during Bootup, a black screen with option, select the option and then login as Admin account..

If it fails, then try using the Security Configuration Tool to make sure you have privileges to Ghost. You'll find the Tool in your programs menu under Programs|Norton Ghost|Security Configuration Tool.
After then, install Norton.. Let me know the status for further assistance.

NOTE: After login to Safe Mode, try first installation of Norton

Then if it fails.. go back to Security Configuration Tool

Blue Screen

When the computer first boots up, press the F8 key when the eMachines logo is replaced by the first Microsoft screen, then select Safe Mode from the list. If the computer will not boot in Safe Mode, you will need to boot from your Windows CD and select the repair installation option. If you can boot in Safe Mode, you will need to find out what is causing the system to reboot during startup. With the msconfig utility, disable all unnecessary startup programs and services, then try restarting the computer normally. If this works, you need to use the msconfig utility to add the startup programs and services back one-by-one until it fails to boot again (to locate your troublemaker). Keep repeating this until all services and programs (except the one causing the problem) are back in the lineup.

Boot Sector Error

Can you get it to boot without the BSOD? If the problem is intermittent, it's probably a flaky drive sector. If Windows will boot, you should be able to get Norton to make a good copy.

If it will no longer boot, the sector is probably corrupted. You can tell Norton to do a sector copy & ignore errors, but that may duplicate the problem.

You may want to try what's listed here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

Look under /FixMBR. You could ghost it to another drive, then try that.

My PC generally runs slow and takes a long time boot-up

You need to give more information, especially what operating system you are running. Lets presume its Windows XP...
Your PC is likely loading a lot of applications at startup that are taking so long to load and settle down. You can determine if this is the issue by doing the following:
  1. Click "Start" button and then "Run..."
  2. Type in "msconfig" and click "OK"
  3. Select the "Diagnostic startup" option and then "Apply"
  4. Follow reboot options and when rebooted see if this improves your startup/speed
  5. If it does (it should) then you can browse the list of applications you are loading (the "Startup" tab) and turn them on one by one until you find the offending application.
  6. Once found, either leave it off the startup list in msconfig, or uninstall it completely.
Another option that is less technical is to install an application like Norton Systemworks/360. It's speedstart utility is a more user-friendly version of msconfig and can automate the process of eliminating the startup and system hogs in your list of startup applications. Be warned that if your anti-virus software i not Norton you'll have to uninstall it as Norton's doesn't play well with others. However Norton's anti-virus does a superb job so you'll still be protected.
Hope this helps.

Dell Precision 490 constant reboot after ghost image completed

Hello-

I figured out how to ghost a Dell Precision 490 with a 32 bit Windows XP Image! Like you I had the same problem where it would constantly reboot after I imaged it with an existing 490 image. The answer is actually very simple. Boot up your Precision 490 and hit F2 to enter the bios. Select Drives and then SATA Operation, change it to "Raid Autodetect / ATA". Reboot the 490 and re image the machine, it will now work!

Can not open norton 360 main window

Hello pqrszyx.

Sounds like the install failed at some point, and it keeps trying to configure.

Do you have any other Symantec products installed?
Like Ghost, or PCA, or anything else?

If not, I would go to add/remove programs and uninstall N360. Reboot the computer.
Next, run the NRT tool.
Found here: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
Reboot.
Try to install N360 again.

If you cant get the main ui to launch after doing those steps, then I would suggest using the Symantec Support.

Reboot error 29004

Slave your hard disk to another PC and try to run check disk to repair on the other hand If this error occurs regardless of your Ghost version, it is probably due to bad sectors on the destination drive if restoring an image, or due to bad sectors on the source drive if creating an image. Run Scandisk, checkdisk, or Norton Disk Doctor with a thorough surface test. hope it helps.

When download hp photosmart fatel error during installation appears error1935. download stops and starts uninstalling.

if you have any firewalls or virus scanners running please remove them for install purposes only.

you can also go

Start--->Run--->type: msconfig---->in the general go to diagnostic startup---->accept, close and reboot

Install the software it should install now.

Then reboot

then goto

Start--->Run--->msconfig---->in the general options to to normal startup--->accept, close and reboot.

Now your software is ready for testing.

Alot of the HP Software has a issue with firewalls and virus scanners when being installed if that does not work go to the diagnostic startup again and try downloading the setup again if using a disk then chances are its gonna work fine.

Please let me know how you made out.

Hello, my problem is when i turn my PC on there comes an error named : b0 error. I searched solution and for some people it works but not for me. Can you help me pleasee???

Hi Yimiden,

A solution to the problem is to insert the OS X install cd without pressing any key. When the install times out, OS X should boot from the harddisk. To make a partition active, do this:
  • Start Terminal.app
  • Enter:
sudo -s (enter your password)
fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 (the disk number may be different on your installation, eg. rdisk1)
print (list all partitions)
flag 1 (sets partition 1 as bootable - might be a different number on your installation)
quit (answer y to save settings)
  • Now reboot the computer. You should now be able to boot without the install cd. .

When this solution does not work, try this:
Start the computer with the CD.
Wait until you can start the Terminal from the menu
Type this:
fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0 (or any other number if it is not the first disk)
Quit the Terminal
Quit the Installer
A dialog box apears
Click "Choose Startup Disk"
Choose your first disk
Click Reboot . . . . . .

Please give me a feed back if this is useful
