Question about Computers & Internet
Help!! When I went to close my laptop/notebook the other day, there was a loud crunch sound & the thing won't close/fold! Could the locking mechanism be jammed? The problem seems to be only in the left hinge area, between the hinge and the end of the computer. It is the end with the hole to lock it closed. How does the lock work? Has this happened to anyone else??? Thanks.
Ocasionally , a laptop is manufactured with a defective hinge mechanism which may not show up until the hinge has been used for some time.
You have to do some partial disassembly to fix this. Yuo can order laptop hinge for most any model from several places, but replacing it requires some skill.
Hinges are usually about $20 bucks or so,and a technician shouldn't charge you more than $40 for labor; so about $60 total.
