Question about Toshiba Satellite A10 Notebook

1 Answer

Not reciving power

I have a Toshiba A10 laptop, it was working fine until one day i picked it up and plugged it in, the charge light did not go on, i tried turning on the computer and nothing happens, i thought it must have an issue with the main power in plug as the cable still allows power through it, i have even tried the battery in another A10 and it seems to be fine, Dose anyone know what is going on?

No i have double checked the socket, it's the same as the day i bought it, could it be possible that one of the internal components has fried?

When you plug in the charger, does it feel loose at all? Or tight? The pin in the jack may have broke resulting in your above problem.

Hmm, that was really my only suggestion. The pin in the jack is way in the back and not possible to see without taking the lappy apart. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck:)

The easy way is to take the charger to a shop and have it checked. This requires a voltmeter. If it is bad then replace it. If it is good then the connector where the charger plugs in is probably bad. Unless you are mechanically inclined take it to a shop. I charge $30 to $50 for this type of repair.

It sounds like the power supply inside has gone bad. If its not under warranty it will most likely cost more to fix than its worth.

Try running it without the battery and just off the AC power....if that does the same..I'd say start looking for a new one.

I bought a replacement battery for my Toshiba Satellite m-305D-S8431. The input is 100-240V the output is 19V 4.74 on the original battery and only 19V 3.45V on the replacement. The first day I plugged it...

Hi,
The voltage is right but amperage is wrong so yes send the battery back and have them send you a battery with the right amperage.
You should be able to use the laptop on AC power for the time being until you receive the replacement battery.
Make sure you tell them the correct voltage and amperage so the don't make the same mistake again.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
