Just need 1 capacitor

If anyone has got thier 27" astar lcd tv opened up, please have a look at the power supply board and let me know what capacitor goes at RT1. The cap I took out is all burnt and I can't read the lettering. It's located at the bottom left of the power supply board. It's black, bout the size of a dime and shaped like an m&m with legs. RT1 is written on the board at that location.
Thanx
John

My astar ltv 2701 27 inch hdtv tv started to smoke and i need to get a new motherboard but where no one sells just the motherboard

I have a working motherboard from a broken screen LCD.
The smoke could have been from the capacitors in the power supply and not the main board. I would suggest to inspect the power supply as well for bulging or leaky capacitors that fail most of the time.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

It's not turn on and no green light

I just finished replacing all 25 or so of the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board of an LTV 2701 AStar TV. When I got done, the tv came back to life and WORKS GREAT. Every last electrolytic was either leaking onto the board or puffed up or both. The main problem is that Astar designed the case so that no air can circulate over the board and the capacitors bake after a couple of years. If you don't do somethig to let the air circulate, you will be replacing them again in 2 more years. The board is pretty sturdy however and its fairly easy to replace them all with some copper desoldering braid and a 125 watt soldering gun. Just be sure to keep the polarities right on the electrolytics and make sure that they are the 105C variety. Good luck and remember to add some fans and cut some extra holes in the cage.

Problems with the Astar TV turning on

OK HERE'S THE DEAL WITH THE ASTAR YOU ALL SPEAK OF THE PERSON FROM SOLUTION 3 IS RIGHT IT'S A POWER SUPPLY ISSUE WE'VE GOT 130 OF THESE I'VE FIXED 40 OUT 44 POWER SUPPLIES. IF ANY OF YOU HAVE SOME SKILLS WITH SOLDERING. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS IN THE CAPACITORS. THERE ARE 3 SETS OF CAPACITORS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. 4 3300uf 35v, 8 2200uf 25v, 7 1000uf 10v. ONCE YOU REPLACE THESE YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO. THE OTHER 4 WE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ARE STILL POWER SUPPLY ISSUES BUT ALITTLE MORE IN DEPTH WILL POST WHEN WE FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM.
