Make sure the paper type is appropriate Clean the printhead Align the printer using the control panel --Touch the Tools icon on the touch screen. --Touch Tools . --Touch Align Printer . When the alignment is complete, the product prints a test page and the control panel displays a message indicating whether or not the alignment was successful.
The only cartridge that fits in your printer is the 18C0788 #1 cartridge if you have put another cartridge into your printer that is not the #1 cartridge I recommend you remove it and replace it with the correct cartridge.
Try this... Unplug the printer from power and restore power... also, reboot the computer. if that doesn't work, try reinstalling the cartridge or reinstalling the software. If there is an option to ignore these messages, it will be in the options srction of your printer manager program.
First make sure that the refill cartridge is the correct one.
Example: X3480 printers: #2 cartridge
If so than take the cartridge out and clean all the contact points with a dry cloth. These points can sometimes get dirty, especially by refilled cartridges. reinsert the cartridge and than unplug the printer and plug it back in after 10 seconds.
I can type out how to troubleshoot this, but it would be easier for you to open the link below. This will give you step by step instructions on how to do this.
I believe this may help. The Lexmark printer/scanners are touchy and
need to be "restarted" sometimes since their internal "brain" gets
scrambled. Sounds like this is what has happened to you.
Turn the printer off - if it won't - just unplug the darn thing! Then,
reboot your computer - and just before you re-boot, plug the printer
Hopefully this will reset it.
Lexmark printer/scanner load software and other things during the
boot-up process that you are not even aware of. I know this is not
desirable, but that is what they do and they sometimes require a
complete shut-down and re-boot to reset.
Hope that helps. If it doesn't - you may have a corrupt driver. Go to
the Lexmark site and re-download the driver and re-start from scratch.
Hopefully it will work out. Best of luck
