I bought this a couple years ago, no problems at all and the surround was awesome. Recently, it wouldn't power up, then would with no problem. I noticed it powered up more often when not plugged into a surge protector.
Now the unit powers up, but the door and tray loader for the dvd changer won't open. There's no DVDs in there, and the door isn't stuck (I was able to open the door without the power to make sure).
What could this be?
Re: Powering up/DVD loader opening problem RCA RTD255
Hi what you have is a malfunction, and just because the design. look I have a RTD255, I had the same prob that you, what did I do? I desarmed, and underneath the trays, you will find a big pinion, it is the one who moves the tray out and in, it has a screw in the midle a golden one. I removed, then I put the pinion out and I found a wheel moved by an ruber band, thatmoves another pinion this is the pproblem the real one. what I did was to put an screw in order to not let it move up and down. but you must be carefull because no every screw can be located in the midle hole, the idea is to remove a little bit of the black plastic that is in the center an put an screw then yu can assemble your device again and enjoy!! if you need better explications may be an diagram or something like that do not doubt in contact me, because describe the issu is very hard you might not understand what i just wrote.
tks any ways

I bought recently rca system home theater and makes strong fan.... +Aiden woodruff Change he settings to surround, and make sure all of the ...
Ok is your cash converters purchase a RCA, RTD255 system or is the RCA255 you quote something else, I'll assume that we are dealing with the first, and that seems to be a All in one system that contains speaks amp etc
You also have your new AVR 310 which is amplifier that one would connect a stand alone DVD/CD player to, You wouldn't connect the cash converter purchase to it, it is a seperate system.
You could use your cash converter system alone without the AVR310 but not with it.
I have a 2000 model RCA P52923 and I had the same problem occur a couple of days ago. The sound hasn't worked for a couple of years, but the TV is connected to an RCA surround sound to resolve that issue. Most recently, while watching TV, it began to start scanning channels by itself. I shut it off and unplugged it for a couple of days, but each time that I turn it on, it begins to immediately start scanning each channel. Neither the remote, nor the channel buttons on the set are able to stop the scanning, and neither of them will perform any functions, including turning the set on and off.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Your problem with the store is unclear. If you just purchased it, take it back. And I urge you to dig into your pockets for something a little better, as this system is not known to be reliable or exactly high-quality.
generally they put pressure on the door panel to "open" the door, doesn't really matter where as long as they are out of the way of the disk and the hinge, if you do it correctly they will self seat and not be an issue. hope this helps just keep thinking about it and it will become obvious, while you look at the assembly.
