Maybe you should uninstall and reinstall the drivers, so that the mixer device is set properly.

ATR3350 Microphone: Battery in. Plugged into laptop. Recorded video. ATR3350 Mic is ignored. Audio is still recorded from my Logitech Webcam software. How does this thing work?

You need to tell your computer which microphone / sound source to use.
In he absence of other instructions it is defaulting to the built in microphone.
Normally your sound-card software should detect a new device plugged in and ask you to confirm it. However if it is not doing so you may need to change the audio settings.
How to correct this will vary slightly depending on which operating system you are using.

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here you need to SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls). If your webcam/ microphone is built in to the laptop there should also be a volume control called 'Internal MIC' - disable it by placing a check-mark in the mute box.

NOTE if microphone (or internal MIC) is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK.

That should be it but it is possible you may also need to turn off the microphone in the software for your web-cam.

HP pavilion dv9005us. When using built in mic receivers say volume is very low. When I move the lid I get a crackling sound in the speakers like the mic wires a lose ..

To fix the low volume problem in mic receiver follow the steps below:
  1. Click Start , Control Panel .
  2. In the left panel, select Classic View .
  3. Select Sound , and then select the Recording tab.
  4. Right-click on Microphone and select Properties .
  5. On the Custom tab, select Microphone Boost .
  6. On the Levels tab, increase the microphone recording volume to the maximum level.
Then please check if it works fine otherwise you need to install the latest sound driver.

Windows VISTA 64bit and 32 bitsound driver:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/sp35684.exe

Windows XP sound driver:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34200.exe

Install the sound driver as per your operating system.

Internal microphone does not pick up sound

Have you tried to go to Control Panel>Sound>Recording Tab and be sure that the mic is not disabled? There are also adjustment levels there too. If all else fails try to uninstall through Device Manager and allow the PC to rediscover the mic.

Please help me

You need to check if the mic/s is working?
Are you certain the Logitech webcam has a built-in mic?
To check if the mic works go to Start - All programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and test record your voice and play back to check, also try it with the laptop's built-in mic (if it has one) and the Logitech mic.
If both mics work then you have a choice of which one you can use in Skype, most likely the best one would be the Logitech one.

You need to configure your audio settings in Skype.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Select Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.

If you still have problems get back to me with all details and error messages.

HP Mic doesn't work in sound recorder but does in video recorder

Hi,

This is not a problem.
Just configure your microphone as a recording device under Recording device properties.

You can do it by double clicking on the volume control and get to the recording devices property pages.
You can do the same through Control Panel as well.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.

Hi i have an hp pavilion dv2000 lap top, i am trying to record my acoustic guitar into the comp. This lap has conexant high definition audio sound card inbuilt. However when i try and plug a microphone...

The mic may be muted on the computer. In XP, double click the volume control icon in the bottom right of the screen to get the mixer. If you don't see the microphone input, go to 'options' then 'properties' and place a check in the box to show it. Then make sure it is unmuted and the volume is up.
In Vista, right-click the volume icon and choose recording devices and make sure it is on and volume up.
