Santastinker, how much does this cost to repair? Is it worth fixing or is it more cost effective to buy a new portable DVD player on sale. We really like this DVD player, this Mintek is the best one we have had yet!

Santastinker - Next question, where is your shop? And how long does this repair take? I was hoping to have it fixed by Thanksgiving travel plans. I live in Raleigh, NC.

I think this is a common problem. The internal jack is broken, either itself or broken on the circuit board. These jacks are weak and easily abused. It needs to be replaced by a technician. What I do in my shop, is to hard-wire an external in-line jack to the C.B.A. so that can never happen again.

msmon24, This is the most common question I ever get asked. The answer is going to be different at every shop you go to.
At my shop, for this kind of problem, I charge about $30 + parts(at cost). I also detail clean the laser pick-up assembly. The problem with buying a new unit, is you'll still have a unit with the same weakness. It is because the jacks (headphone and power) takes the most abuse. You must remember that most units today are built by robots, and robots don't care much about quality control.

I should be able to send it back the day after I receive the unit.
If you want me to fix it, you'll need to send $40 plus return postage.
Please pack well, and don't forget to send your power cord and car "charger".

As an added note, I am new to this site (as I just found it) but I worked for
Panasonic for 12 years and have been in my own shop for another 12 years.
    Thank You, Alan Keen, owner

LEFT POWER CORD IN A HOTEL, CAN'T FIND A 9V 3.0A CORD ANYWHERE

Usually where the power cord goes it tells you what kind it is (i.e. 12vDC). From my experience, Radio Shack offers different kinds of cords as well as plugs for the unit that match up with the plug on your player. I'd go there and check it out but bring the unit with you and they will match things up.

Can't seem to get my dvd player to charge.

I have this model dvd player and it has worked very well for over a year. Lately it has not had a picture but has had sound when fully charged. When the green light is on, it is charging. When the light goes off, it is fully charged (or should be). I plugged the wall charger directly into the dvd player and it works fine with pic and sound. I think maybe the rechargable battery is on it last legs. I am looking for a longer cig lighter charger cord to reach the headrest so kids can watch from backseat. I will be able to keep it plugged in to charger at all times. Hope this helps!

Replacement plug in charger for kawasaki dvd player

On the back/bottom of the unit somewhere, there should be a label that says something similar to:

"Power: 9VDC 1300ma"
and there will be a little picture of the polarity of the plug.

If so, take your Unit to Rat Shack or local electronics repair store and ask them for a replacement power supply.

Portable dvd player will not play off outlet or car charger

There must be something wrong with the amount of power the power supply is providing. I would try and purchase another power supply, and see if it still happens. Another thing it could be is the port where you plug in the power cord, is the port loose or can you move it? If this is the case, it might not be receiving clean power.

Unit will not charge

Usually what happens is the power jack the cord plugs into is broken its solder joints. The manufacturers usually break the first rule of soldering which is to not rely on the soldering for mechanical strength.
If you feel up to totally dissassembling your unit to get at the bottom side of the circuit board, all you have to do is an easy resolder of the power jack.
