Try this first. run it untill it quits running. Now loosen the gas cap and then retighten it. If it start, the cap is bad and is causing vapor lock. Good luck.

SOURCE: how do you relace the recoil spring in poulan weed eater lt1500le

Hello dan_montecar:

>>The Following is a General Instruction File I Made to Perform this Repair. If you have Any Suggestions or Remarks, then Please Let me Know. Thanks.
>>**Remove the Boom/Shaft from the Engine. Remove the Mounting Bolts and the Boom and Center Drive Shaft should Slide Away from the Starter Housing Assembly.
>>**On Some Model Trimmers, there is a Torx Screw Inside the Coupling Drive that has to be Removed.
>>****There is also a Locking Screw on the Side of the Housing that is a Anti-Vibration Lock.****
>>Using the Breakdown as a Guide Remove the Starter Housing Assembly from the Engine Assembly.
>>Now Carefully/Slowly Remove the Pressure Plate Assembly from the Starter Housing.
>>The Spring May have Broken and Sometimes a Section will Jump Out when the Pressure Plate Assembly is Removed from the Starter Housing. When it Jumps, it Pushes the Recoil Pulley Out Also.
>>Look at the Direction of the Coil of the Spring in the Housing and Make an Arrow in the Direction of the Coil with a Magic Marker on the Inside of the Housing.
>>Remove the Broken Spring and Clean the Housing with Spray Lubrication. You can Use Solvent if Required, Just be Sure to Wipe it Before Assembly with Spray Lubricant. The New Spring should come with a Retainer that Holds it in a Circle.
>>If you have Removed the Spring from the Retainer, then Use a Piece of Plastic Pipe About 2" Long that is the Same Inside Diameter as the Retainer (Slightly Smaller than the Recess that the Spring Coils Into if you Lost the Retainer).
>>Coil the Spring Into the Pipe and then Set the Spring Into the Recess. Make Sure the Spring Tab of the Spring Engages the Spring Lock in the Recess.
>>Use a Socket to Hold the Spring in Place and Pull the Pipe Out of the Recess.
>>Lock the Pulley in Place.
>>Now Turn the Pulley in the Same Direction that the Pulley would Turn if the Rope was Turning it.
>>Once the Pulley will Turn No More, then Reverse Direction 1 or 2 Turns and Thread the New Rope Through the Hole in the Center of the Pulley and Out the Hole in the Blower Housing.
>>Pull the Rope Through Until it is Tight Against the Pulley. Now Tie a Slip Knot in the Rope to Hold the Pulley in Place While the Handle is Attached to the Rope.
>>Once the Handle is Attached, Release the Slip Knot and the Rope Should Retract Into the Housing. Reassemble the Blower Housing Onto the Engine.
>>On Some Models you May have to Install the Rope Before you Lock the Pulley in Place. If So, there is a U in the Pulley that the Rope is Held in While Turning the Pulley to Tighten the Spring.
This is a Basic File and your Unit May be Slightly Different.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainframe&LoginID=hywd&loginpwd=hywd&Partner=HYWD and Select the Catalog Poulan/Weed Eater.
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

SOURCE: Poulan/Weed Eater No. Bvm200le kills when taking

Most likely low compression caused by stuck piston rings or a scored piston and cylinder. This unit was made by Poulan and they have had an epidemic of this problem. The solution is to tear the unit down and put in new piston rings. Before you install the new rings you need to get a sheet of glass and some 600 grit wet dry sand paper. Sand each ring down about .002 to .003 and reinstall. This should solve your problem as long as you have good fire and the piston and cylinder is not scored.

You might also need to rebuild the carb.

SOURCE: Troy-Bilt weed eater, Model TB90BC, had rotten

Prime and watch the fuel move up to the carb. This is the fuel line and it should be long. Make sure it goes to the bottom of the fuel tank.

If it's the one that comes 'out' of the primer bulb it is the return line that goes in the fuel tank.

Weed Eater PE550 711431, new primer bulb will not pop back after second second push.

FIXED- No start Weed Eater with the symptom of the primer bulb collapsed, not filling nor returning to pop out after pressed.

Worked in model WT-3100 with Walbro carburetor WT-583 and has to work in many others. It happened after winter hibernation, even when left with no fuel to prevent formation of fuel deposits.

FIRST, mark/scribe the carburetor fuel outlet that has the hose towards the primer purge bulb as 'OUT' and the fuel inlet coming from the fuel tank 'IN'
The problem was a fine mesh metal screen strainer blocked by contaminants, inserted at place shown as number '3' in figure 7 at
----> www.drystacked.com/Walbro%20Carburetor%20Theory%2027Jun2010.pdf
That fine mesh was removed by prying its edges around with a sewing needle held by pliers.
It you cannot see light trough it holding it against a lamp, is blocked even if looks clean.
Removed, discarded, reassembled and started. Later ordered the part or kit but was able to use the machine immediately.

Writing this as am tired of seeing responses like 'may be this' or 'try that' or 'perhaps the other' by guessers.

Poulan prolink pp335 will start runs for approx 1 min then dies , noticed primer bulb retracts slow after being pushed in

This is classic fuel blockage, start by changing the fuel filter in the fuel tank, if no better check fuel hose has not collapsed or become trapped, if no better remove the carb, under the pump cover ( alluminium cover held with a single screw ) under the diaphram is an internal filter, clean or replace.

Poulan 21cc weedeater - starts but won't stay running. I've cleaned all fuel lines, cleaned plug and has plenty of gas - but still won't start. runs for 2 or 3 seconds and dies. appears to not be getting...

On these types of motors that could be the problem, another thing to check is the primer bulb. I have had a primer bulb that had a small crack in it which went undetected for a while. These types of motors do not have a fuel pump and they work on a siphon type mechanism, if there is an air leak dealing with the gas tank anywhere, that is your problem.

Both lines came off of the posts on a te 450 trimmer. which line goes where?

I presume you mean fuel lines. The return (without fiilter) line goes nearest the primer bulb. The supply (which has the filter attached inside the tank) goes on the further nozzle from the primer bulb.

Where do you put the line from the gas tank I have A mcCulloch weedeater the tank have two lines it all so have A primer

One line is a return line short, the other is connected to the filter and to the carb fuel intake. The primer bulb will not fill if they are reversed.

I I need the little plastic gas plunger for a Poulan Featherlite Plus weed eater

The part is called a primer bulb if it is mounted on the carburator or if it is a remote primer it is called a primer pump. Check with a full service dealer in your area if you have one. If you

can not find one in your area contact southern supply company at

205-833-2525 or email them at [email protected]

and I feel sure Jason or someone there can help you.

Which lines hook to what?

Fuel filter to bottom of carb. The suction port of primer to the top of carb outlet line to other port to tank.
To tell which port is outlet put your finger on one port and push bulb if the bulb collapses and doesn't return then that is the inlet (suction) side.
Good luck!
