Yes - all installed & has been working fine for 8 months

  • Mom at home Oct 31, 2008

Are you suggesting that I do this every time I scan ??I can not leave them turned off all the time.
I just want the thing to work when I want to scan without having to do unnecessary things to the computer.

First, you cannot use the scanner via wireless, you need to connect via USB if you want to use the scanner.

To connect via usb you need to install the drivers using the disk that came with the printer.

If the scanner was working before you will need to reinstall the drivers, after testing a different USB cable.

Do the following:

  • Test a different USB cable.
  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Reinstall software from disk.
  • Plug back USB only when prompted by installer software.
The printer should work after that.

Now it still work on wireless because drivers for network printer are installed like if it was a different printer from the USB one.

Unistall the old printer  driver which is at present installed in your completely from everywhere in your computer.just delete that printer driver from your computer. restart your pc after u uninstall the drivers from the pc. then again reinsert the printer driver cd and install the driver as you did when you received the new printer for the first time. follow the installing on screen instructions and you printer will get loaded with all its facilites and functions completely. as when you reload choose the full version of the installer not the shortcut version . all the facilities will get loaded only if you select full version.
as what you r facing happens sometimes with some customers.but again installing the driver properly resolves the problem.

feel free for further assistance. rate the solution if helped.
thanks.

The HP unit is wireless right ?

can print on wireless but can't scan - scanners like the one you have built in an all-in-one unit are not meant to be used on a network unless there's a SOFTWARE provided by the manufacturer to "trick" the computer that it is connected directly via a USB cable.

>UNINSTALL then REBOOT the computer and RE-INSTALL the Driver CD that came with the unit.

Solution two: Manually check the USB connection between the All-in-One and the computer

Follow these steps to check the USB connection from the product to the computer.

    NOTE:

    HP
supports USB cables less than 5 meters (16 feet 5 inches) in length. If
the USB cable is longer than 5 meters (16 feet 5 inches), replace it
    with a supported cable.

Step one: Make sure that the USB cable is connected correctly to the scanning device

The icon on the USB cable (
) generally faces up when the cable is connected correctly. Refer to
the product documentation for precisely how to connect the USB cable to
the product. Check the cable to make sure that the icon is facing the
    correct direction.

    Maanita Chadha Oct 31, 2008

    If
the cable is not connected correctly to the product, reconnect it
correctly and try the scan again. If the product works, there is no
    need to continue troubleshooting.

Step two: Test the USB connection and restart the computer

    Depending
on how the USB cable is connected from the product to the computer, use
one of the following options to test the USB connection.

    NOTE:

Complete the steps only for the option that describes how the USB cable is connected from the product to the computer.

Option one: The USB cable is connected directly to the computer

    1. Move
the USB cable to another available USB port. For example, if the USB
cable is plugged in front of the computer, move it to a port in the
      back of the computer.

    2. Restart the computer and the product.

    3. Try the scan again.

      • If the
        product works
in a different port, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

      • If the
        product still does not work
, continue with the next solution.

Option two: The USB cable is connected to a USB hub or a docking station for a laptop

    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the hub or docking station and connect it directly to the computer.

    2. Restart the computer and the product.

    3. Try the scan again.

      If the product
works after connecting the USB cable directly to the computer
      , follow these steps:

      1. Reconnect the USB cable.

      2. Try the scan again.

        • If
the product worked when the USB cable was connected directly to the
computer, but it does not work after reconnecting the USB cable in the
original configuration, there might be a problem with the hub or
docking station. Either leave the USB cable connected directly to the
computer, or contact the manufacturer of the hub or docking station for
          troubleshooting.

        • If
the product worked after reconnecting the USB cable to the original
configuration, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

      If the product
does not work after connecting the USB cable directly to the computer
      , follow these steps.

      1. Replace the USB cable.

      2. Try the scan again.

        • If the product
          does not work
with the new cable, continue to the next solution.

        • If the product
          does work
with the new USB cable, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

Option three: There is a conflicting USB device connected to the computer

    1. Disconnect all USB devices from the computer except for the keyboard, the mouse, and the product.

    2. Try the scan again.

      • If the issue
        is resolved
, the computer might not have sufficient power supplied to the USB
ports to detect multiple USB devices. HP recommends installing a USB
powered hub to connect multiple USB devices.

      • If the issue
        is not resolved
, continue to the next solution.

Its the scan feauture for your printer which is not working properly.
If you have any firewall, disabled them and then check

If this doesnt work create a System Restore point.

Please uninstall the software for the printer. Download the software from www.hp.com , click on software and driver and select your model and reinstall the application again.

This will resolve the issue.

Thanks

When you are using a multi-function printer, you need to use the software that came with your printer to scan. Have you already install the printer software?

You may also follow the steps on this link if you have more problems: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00040499&lc=en&dlc=&cc=us&product=3651156&rule=33993&lang=

My Epson WF-3640 is printing with gaps in the text. How do I fix this issue?

Make sure you should remove shipping tape from the ink cartridge. These taps are used to protect printer during shipping but you have to remove it before starting printing. Beacuse these taps prevent the ink to entering in print head. If you will not found shipping tape in your printer then there is terr off strip, remove it. The tear off strip seals the the vent holes on the top of the cartridge to prevent it from drying out on the shelf or during shipping.
After ensuring that the shipping tape has been removed, run the printer's "Head Cleaning" utility to prime the cartridge, then print a test page.

So yes you need to get a second cable. Tim
