When i turn my laptop on it just says configerating 3 of 3 and 0% then shuts down and resrarting can you help and i do not have a backup disc

Hi there,
It sounds like you have a corrupted update, try tapping the F8 button as the computer is booting, select to enter safe mode from that menu then once the machine has booted, run system restore from the accesories folder and restore to the last date you know the machine to be working (maybe even earlier if you dont install software frequently. Once this has completed the machine should reboot into normal windows. Presuming it does, I would recommend you then run windows update to try install the required updates.
Hope this helps

I have a Dell Optiplex 780 and when I am logged in and walk away for 15 or more minutes it will go to sleep, I will then come back wake it up, log in and the screen will go black and I cannot get in unless...

This problem is ongoing because you have it configured to sleep turn the sleep mode off. What it is doing is attempting to load drivers again and not saving to cache when in sleep mode you may have not enough storage allotted for the sleep mode to save information go and increase the storage memory to store the data so that when it sleeps it can store the data and wake up with your screen as it was when you left it.
Personally I do not use sleep mode never have, never will. It is nothing but a problem for me anyway. I always keep my machines running with the exception of a lap top. So my suggestion is turn sleep mode off. I also log out and then log back in same principal really. Or just close the machine totally power it down. Sleep mode was a wonderful concept along with shutting down hard discs etc. However you will often times be more into a hassle than just leaving it on or shutting it down. Less work for a computer is better just my humble opinion.
Last but not least, my last resort would be to re-install operating system again once I start getting to many things going wrong with my machines I do them over solving all sorts of problems that are behind the scenes that take hours sometimes to repair individually. This would be after you retrieve your lost files from the drive. John

Ihave blue screen after my laptop just shut down

If you didn't get to log in try this.Reboot, tap the F8 key until you get to the advanced start up screen. Click on last known good configuration.
If you logged in it will not work so try to boot in safe mode. (again tap the F8 key on reboot)
The blue screen is a configuration error. Either hardware or software.
Hardware could be bad, (memory, hard drive).
Software could be any thing, (an update, new install).
If you just did a windows update and the blue screen happened I would boot to safe mode and uninstall the update.
Control panel, add/remove programs.
You might need to check the box in the top right to show updates.
Find the latest update and click remove.

On shutting down my laptop it gave the message, "installing 1 of 1" do not turn off your computer. It did not turn off all night. I turned it off by using the on/off button then shut it down...

When you start your laptop, press F8. You will get a menu (Normal boot, Reboot...). Choose Last good known configuration (something like that).
