Re: DVD drive not recognized as RW

If you use the Nero Smart start, you should see an icon to switch from burning CDs to burning DVDs. Once you click this icon, you should be able to burn to DVDs. Step-by-Step tuturials can be found for nero products here" Nero 7 Nero 6

Driver for Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K16D

Suggest you try this, Chris;

Go to Device Manager.

Start > Right-click on My Computer > Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list > Left-click on the Hardware tab. Left-click on Device Manager

Win Vista/ Win 7:
Windows logo button > Right-click on Computer > follow the above ]

When Device Manager loads click on the + sign, to the left of DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Right-click right on the name of the optical drive. (CD/DVD drive)

Left-click on Uninstall.

A Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up; "Warning you are about to uninstall this device"
It's OK. Click on OK.

Now close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Restart your computer.

(WinXP: Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart
Win Vista/Win 7: Windows logo button > Restart )

When Windows fully loads you will get a pop-up, out of the system tray, "Found new hardware device", and perhaps another one, "Found Pioneer DVD-RW"

Windows has the habit of losing drivers. Let's see if this 'slaps Windows around'.

[Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device.

Windows XP/Vista/7 is the O/S, the optical drive is the device ]

Tsstcorp cddvdw ts l633p error code 19

Code 19 means there is a driver conflict such as two devices trying to use the same resources.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click
Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
this will refresh the default driver stack.

Normally the above will fix that issue if not work your way down through these even if you have done
them before.

My CD/DVD player no longer works!!! HELP!!

If you are using windows XP, right click on "My Computer" go to "Properties" click on "Properties" it will Bring up a System Properties window. click on "Hardware" tab. in the middle you will see a tab that says "Device Manager" click on that. Look in the list to see if your Cd/DVD drive is shown. If it is and has a big yellow "?" on it or a yellow "?" with a "!" on top of the yellow "?" then the CD/DVD drive is still being recognized by the motherboard. In this case, replacing the driver will most likely do the trick. If you are running Vista, or Windows 7, access the Device Manager by right clicking on "My Computer" then go to "Properties".it will pop up a "Control Panel Home" window. The first entry is the "Device Manager" click on that to open the device manager. From there, the same thing applies to the XP instructions. If the CD/DVD is not listed in the list, try rebooting the system then repeat the process. If the CD/DVD still does not show up, there is most likely a problem with the drive or motherboard not recognizing the drive. If the latter seems to be the issue then taking it to a reputable repair facility might be your only option. If it is the yellow "?" you should be able to find the driver at HP's website once this is downloaded, double click on the file and it should start running the driver installer. Then just follow the prompts of the installer.

System does not recognize CD/DVD Drive

The yellow triangle means there is no driver installed. There is 3 ways to get a driver. In most cases you right click on the hardware in Device Manager and download driver or reboot and Plug n Play should pick up driver automatically. If none of those work then the only option is to load it thru the add/removal in the control panel using the disc that accompanies the softeare.
