Suggest you download Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool if possible on to your laptop. To download the version for your laptop's Windows 7 64-bit operating system, click on this link...
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=585d2bde-367f-495e-94e7-6349f4effc74

If possible, download directly to your hard drive and then run it from there. If too difficult or not possible, download using another computer onto a thumbdrive which you can then plug into your Toshiba laptop to run it. The Tool is tailored to remove specific infections from Windows AFTER it has been infected. Microsoft releases a new version on 2nd Tuesday of every month and the latest was posted March 8th. Windows XP booting slowly and audio skipping??? Help!!

Hello,

First to start with, you have to increase the RAM of the laptop, that is what mainly controls the speed of a laptop,or any other system.

If you can also change the hard disc to that with a higher gigabyte, that will also help.

You should also get an external hard disc for storing files.

make sure you dont have too many files on the system if not the system will be excessively slow.

try this and you will realise your system will be in good condition again.

take care

If the laptop was in a cold place and was suddenly taken into a warm environment, dew could have built up inside the unit. If this is the case, keep your laptop in a warm environment for a couple of days without switching it on. Then try to boot it up.... you may well find it works fine after some TLC.

If you had had virus problems or if this started to happen after a software installation, you better try restoring your PC to an older state. Go to Start->Accessories->System Restore. Select a date before the problem started. Restore your PC. If the problem still remains, comment back. Also if you have ZoneAlarm, try uninstalling it. That might be the problem in some cases

I assume you have Windows XP as your OS.Take back up of all your important data and get the windows restored to an earlier date(just click start, the Run then paste there %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
and click OK.). If it does not help you proceed for a fresh windows installation

I HAVE A VIRUS ON MY LAPTOP! HELP!

I had the same problem after first encountering Avira's inability to update new signatures. I downloaded a new version from CNET avira_antivir_personal_en.exe and executed it on top of the existing program.
It started and asked whether to repair or remove. I went for repair, and it continued posting an error. That did not work.
I executed the download again and asked to remove, which it did most thoroughly.
Then executed the same file again and it allowed me install avira without problem and naturally the missing file ccplg.xml was there.
All good

Hybernation?? HELP!

hey, its kinda hard to tell exactly without seeing the laptop, but if you could try this, its a common problem with alot of laptop batterys.
remove the battery from the laptop, usually a switch on the bottom of laptop to remove the battery.
and try running the laptop off the mains without the battery in,
alot of the time that can fix the problem if its a faulty battery.
let me know how you get on,

John
