After performing a descaling cycle, the descaling light still flashes, what is wrong?
The descaling light started flashing after making my morning coffee. I closed the coffee maker for three hours and then performed the descaling cycle. After it was all done, the descaling light did not go off. I closed the coffee maker, disconnected it for the night and this morning it still is on. Please let me know what I should do.

I have the Illy coffee maschine x7.1 and I'm trying to do the descaling (since the litle triangle sign is flashing), but power button doesn't start flashing after I push the coffee and steam button together (as indicated in the manual). Any suggestions what I should do, that the on/off button would start flashing?
17.3 Descale Over time, the continuous heating up of the water used to make the coffee leads to lime scale building up in the inner circuits of the appliance. When the message: DESCALE flashes on the display, you should perform the descale cycle. Proceed as follows: • make sure the appliance is ready. • press the P button (the light over the button comes on) then press the button repeatedly until the appliance displays: DESCALE No • Press the button (corresponding to the SET symbol flashing on the display) and the appliance will display: DESCALE YES • Press the OK button to start the descale programme. • Empty the tank and pour in the contents of one bottle (125 ml) of DURGOL descaler plus one litre of water. For subsequent descaling, use descaler of the same type and brand as supplied (available from technical service centres authorised by the manufacturer). • attach the water spout to the nozzle; • place a container with a minimum capacity of 1.5 litres under the hot water spout (Fig. 3); 34 C o l l e c t i o n • press the OK button.Descaler runs off from the hot water spout into the container below. The appliance displays: APPLIANCE IN DESCALE • the descale programme automatically performs a series of run offs and pauses to remove lime scale deposits from inside the coffee maker. • After about 30 minutes, the appliance displays: RINSING FILL TANK The appliance must now be rinsed through to eliminate residues of descaling solution from inside the appliance. Proceed as follows: • empty the water tank, rinse and fill with clean water. • Reposition the tank. • Empty the full container and then put it back under the hot water spout. • Press the OK button. Hot water is run off from the spout into the container below and the appliance displays: RINSING • When the water tank is empty, the appliance displays the message: RINSING COMPLETE PRESS OK • Press the OK button and refill the water tank with clean water. • The descale programme is now terminated and the appliance is ready to make coffee again.
Did you often use the espresso machine for family or for business, when you often use the machine and you used water that is not filtered, you can assure it need to descale often. Read carefully the manual and follow instruction. Did you descale it in the right amount of solution, how long and its duration? If still persist ( the descaling light continue flashing ) then it has a defect in sensor. Since your machine is new, its under warranty. Call the dealer where you brought that and a service technician will send. I hope I give you answer and solution idea for your unit problem.
Removing the red descaling light is simple.
1. Fill reservoir with half vinegar and half water (no need for the special descaling product from Tassimo).
2. Turn on machine.
3. Insert yellow cleaning disc found in back of machine.
4. This is where most people have the their problem...You must hold the start button for 3 to 5 seconds for the descaling program to start. Both green and red light will flash.
5. Once started, use a large cup to catch the output of water.
6. The machine will cycle through the descaling program in about 30 to 45 minutes. Be paitent!!!
7. Once completed, run many cups of plain water through the system to remove the vinegar taste.
8. Red light problem is solved.
HI It's probably your descale light. The machine needs to be descaled every so often to prevent mineral build up. Follow the directions in your manual. Let the machine finish each cycle. It will give you different light when its completed.
(Button 26 is the right-most one (2 intersecting ovals.)
From the Manual:
Press the button (26) for at least 5 seconds to select the descaling operating mode; the LED emits a fixed light. • Direct the steam nozzle (14) toward the drip tray. • Position a vessel of adequate capacity under the steam nozzle and turn the hot water knob anticlockwise (16). The appliance starts an automatic descaling cycle with pauses preset by the manufacturer and managed automatically by the appliance. • At the end of the cycle, the flow of the descaling solution is shut off and the 5 buttons start flashing simultaneously. • Turn the knob of the hot water nozzle (16) clockwise to OFF. In this case, also the warning light (27) flashes. • Rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh drinking water. • Position a vessel of adequate capacity under the steam nozzle and empty 2/3 of the contents of the water tank by turning the steam knob (16) anticlockwise; to shut off the flow, turn the knob (16) clockwise. • Let the appliance heat up and empty the remaining contents of the water tank by turning the steam knob (16) anticlockwise; to stop the flow, turn it clockwise.
