Hello! May be it will help somebody, I finally crack that system with my friend and find one of channel amplifiers burned, so we just unsolder it from board and instead of 5 channel I have 4. But at least it works now.

This is not good news for you. Most often when you get this protect mode on these, it is the amplifier circuit that has gone bad. Sometimes it is the power supply that causes it, but more often it is the amp. They are very difficult to troubleshoot, so you really should just take it to a service center for repair, unless you have some good electronic troubleshooting skills, then you could take a crack at it yourself. But it does have some serious electronic problem that is not an easy fix at user level, It will require a technician with the proper tools to isolate the problem and repair it.

I am happy to offer you more help if you need it, I may even be able to get the service manual for it and email it to you if you want to troubleshoot it yourself. Just let me know.

Knowledge Article C337191 Error: The message PROTECT or UNPLUG shows in the display.
Follow this procedure to troubleshoot when a PROTECT or UNPLUG error is displayed.
IMPORTANT: The top of the receiver must have proper ventilation to keep from over heating.
  1. Reduce the volume level.
  2. NOTE: If the receiver is played at the maximum volume level it may enter the PROTECT mode. Maximum volume listening will cause the receiver to run hot and drain the output capacitors.
  3. If both the A and B speakers are being powered by the receiver at the same time, turn off the surround sound option.
  4. If protect occurs only when using a DVD player, the sampling frequency may be set too high.
  5. NOTE: Some receivers provide compatibility with the higher sampling frequencies through alternate connections. Consult the user manual for specific information.
  6. Ensure the speaker wiring is not damaged and is properley connected to the back of the receiver and speakers.
  7. If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required.

How to change region code

You cannot do that, unless you hack into the firmware of the DVD player, which would be both difficult to do and probably *******.

Hi i was after a no region code for a dvd player!!!

To unlock the DVD code its defends upon what region you belongs or from were you bought the DVD unit. Just click this site to hack the region code ; http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you will a find a region number (1 thru 6).
The geographical regions are as follows:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs

Hope it may help you;

sounds to me like your laser is gone.
Some discs are harder to play than others as some are multilayed, check online as to whether it is suitable to use laser cleaners these are like discs with soft brushes attached, you can get them from pretty much any computing place, i wouldnt know whether its sensible to use on a DVD player, but couldnt hurt anymore eh?
