Hi, Having foolishly disabled the code & re-entered the incorrect code 3 times on my car radio, the "wait 1 hour" message appeared & whatever I try, I cannot cancel the message. After waiting far longer than the req'd period, (with radio switched ON) the message is still there. I have even disconnected the radio's supply for some time, but to no avail.
The radio is a Blaupunkt, Dublin C30 &
model/serial numbers are :-BP120Y1677175 &
IF anyone can help, I may be saved from the men in white coats.
Thanks in advance. 1chab0d

by default you have 3 chances to enter your code, after then time is get much longer for you to wait. what you can do is still keep your radio power on and leave it for 1 hour, Do not power Off. the cycle of wait will reset. then you can try enter you code again. hope its help.
When this happens it means that 3 incorrect code attempts have been made already and the unit will make you wait for a certain period before you can enter another code.
You must leave the radio powered on continuously and the ignition key must be turned to Accessories On position. Then wait for radio to reset to allow the code to be entered. This can take up to two hours sometimes.
You must not interrupt the power to the unit during the wait period or wait period starts all over again!
Code wait is part of the built in anti-theft system BMW has for the radio. The ignition must remain in the on position for 1 continuous hour. Usually rush hour traffic does the trick. You will need the radio code to enter into the radio after it displays "CODE". just enter the code according to the buttons listed 1-6. ie if it ask for 13556, just enter the digits in that sequence. Make sure you have the correct code. If 3 unsuccessful consecutive entries are made, you will have to wait another hour.
2. Press the VOL/ ON switch to turn on the system on, CODE IN will appear in the display.
3. Enter the 4 digit code using the preset buttons. The system will now appear. - I believe the code for your car is 5253, but you might want to call the Saab dealer for the code
If yu make a mistake while entering your code, finish entering all four digits. Press and hold BAND switch until CODE IN appears in the display. The correct code can now be entered.
NOTE: If you enter an incorrect code three times in succession, you must wait one hour with the Audio Sysytem turned on before making a new attempt. After the one hour waiting period, the system will allow only one code entry attempt. If the code entry is incorrect, you must again wait one hour before another attempt.
If the radio is not happy with the code you are entering there is a possiblity it has locked you out - Leaving the ignition on with WAIT on the screen (1 minute for 1st incorrect enter, 2min for 2nd, 4min for 3rd, 8min for 4th etc) until such time that the radio displays CODE or until leaving the ignition on doesn't remove WAIT from the screen. (possible new radio required at that point)
If the code is entered incorrectly 3 times then you have to wait an hour, with the radio turned on, you will then get 1 chance to enter the correct code. Get it wrong and you have to wait another hour before you can try again. Check with the dealership that you have the correct code. They will be able to tell you if you give them the VIN.

If the radio is disconnected from the power supply, it is not operational when re-connected. After switching on the ignition and the radio, the readout CODE appears in the display.
The code number for the radio is advised to you on the enclosed CODE CARD.
To enter the first digit of the code number, you have to continue pressing station button 1 until the correct digit appears in the display. Adopt the same procedure for the second, third and fourth digits.
Once you have entered the correct code number with the station buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 and confirmed the entry with the SEEK button (press down), the readout CODE disappears. The radio can now be operated.
If you enter a wrong code three times, you must wait 15 minutes before making a new entry. In addition, if 9 incorrect entries are made, the radio will then not operate for 24 hours. During this time the radio and the ignition (terminal 15) must remain switched on.

If the radio is disconnected from the power supply, it cannot be operated by simply reconnecting. After switching on the ignition and the radio the word "CODE" appears in the display on the radio.
The code number for the radio is given on the enclosed CODE CARD.
Enter the code number with the station button, e.g. number 1, station button 1. After entering the first number the word "CODE" disappears and the number entered appears followed by 4 dashes. The next character to be entered flashes. After entering all five numbers, the first character starts flashing again. In this state the code number can be written over as frequently as desired. A correction can be made only by entering the complete code number again.
Confirm code number: Press TUNE, AUTO/SEEK or SC button. The radio automatically switches on and indicates the radio station or frequency stored with station button 1.
If an incorrect code number is entered and confirmed, the word "CODE" appears again on the display. If an incorrect code is entered three times the word "WAIT" appears on the display and the radio locks up for approx. 10 min. If the code is entered incorrectly three times again the radio locks up again for 10 min. Three more incorrect entries (a total of 9 incorrect attempts) increase the lock-up time to 60 min. Another three incorrect entries lock up the radio for another 60 min. The waiting time runs only when the radio is switched on.
does your radio ask for the code when you turn on the ignition key. If you see _ _ _ _ or **** you should enter the code using the pre set numbers for your radio, ie, first code should be entered using the first pre set key on the radio ( number one ).
Followed by the second code number being entered using the second pre set button and so on until all of the code is entered.
After entering the full code the radio should accept, if not enter code again and press the next pre set key following, ie, if the code is 4 digits, press the fifth.
Hope this works.
If all this fails most garages will set the security code for you for a small charge. Make sure you take proof of car ownership otherwise they will normally refuse to reset the code. This is to foil theft.
