Question about Air Conditioners

1 Answer

Please can someone help me!! We purchased 1 year agao a Viesmann Vitodens 100 Combi Boiler and have had major problems with the flow switch sticking. We have had 3 sub contractors come out and replace the flow switch and a Viesmann engineer come out very recently blaming the water for the problem with the flow switch!! Their are around 70% of combi boilers sold throughout the uk and water is a big part of a boiler working, we also found out that we should have a filter fitted to the main supply to prevent any debris/particles getting in to cause the flow switch to stick. My view on this quite frankly is why on earth manufacture a boiler so highly sensitive to grit or particles, I also asked the question of the possibility of the model being faulty but was told definately not its a water issue. I would like to hear from someone who has an unbiased view Regards Simon Cooper

I am pleased to suggest that you try to following. i would wager that the switch is installed in the horizontal position. try replumbing so that the switch or valve is verticle to the ground. . that way particles will settle down with water flow and not be eating up the gaskets on the valve. in other words flow side to side leaves debris in the valve when it seats. . installed in a vertical position the valve flushes itself as it seats. good luck let me know what happens.

You gave a good description of the boiler--
now we need to hear the clues you have observed, as it fires (or fails to fire-- or what?)

Or as the water flow-- or doesn't flow?
As the cold water enters-- what does the flame do?
And does the flow rate reduce as the flow gets to the divert er valve?

How old is the boiler?-- and have we been using HARD water?
(Any water softener in the circuit to remove calcium and magnesium, etc.?)
Do you suspect a scaling problem in the interior parts?
If so-- can you circuit an acid thru the innards, to clean up the scale?

Please comment on what happens when water and gas flow-- so we can help you get to the next step.

Switch heating on, hear a click that we normally hear then boiler fires up. Then goes off after about 30 seconds. Then won't come back on, though we still hear the click. Wait a while before trying...

could be a number of things, it could be cycling on the high limit switch, (lack of water flow, or pump) this would be my guess if you are not resetting power and the unit is trying to restart. It also could be the flame sensor not proving ignition. hope this helps!

Thermo Compact Vaillant Boiler

the thermocompact is a non-condensing model, and should be o.k to fix, you do not need a cylinder as is a combi model and would provide hot water on demand!

My Worcester Bosch Greenstar Combi boiler digital display has started flashing the temperature then two half-rectangles alternately ... it is not heating the radiators to full capacity - any ideas?

just had same problem.  this apprently happens if the power supply has been interrupted or you switch the power on and off.
• The boiler runs for 15 minutes at minimum heat output to fill the condensate trap, the display (K) alternates between -II-” and the boiler flow temperature. This occurs every time the mains supply has been interrupted.

Vaillant Ecotec combi boiler - radiators working but no hot water flow to taps

David,

The fact that you're getting a little burst of domestic hot water suggests that the boiler is capable of circulating hot primary loop water through the heat exchanger, but doesn't necessarily do so when it needs to.

What seems to be lacking is a recognition that domestic hot water is now being drawn off, and that the boiler needs to fire up and divert the primary flow through the heat exchanger.

A good place to start might be the flow switch (usually in the bottom of the boiler, where the cold water supply comes in) or the electrical connections to it.

F20 error on vaillant eco28 combi boiler

F20 is a flow sensor error. Can be due to a defective sensor/ not correctly fitted, or you may have poor circulation, a big difference in flow and return temperatures, can sometimes make the boiler think it has a defective sensor, check good circulation through system, or if you have thermostatic radaiators valves on every single radiator, take 1 head off, as if you dont have a bypass fitted, it needs a radiator as a bypass circuit

I have a vitodens 100-w combi boiler and tried to turn the heating on just to give it a working as was advised. However, I have no heat coming to my radiators. The boilers seems to be working as my hot...

Here's the deal: If your Vitodens 100 has outdoor temperature sensing capability, either built in or via external aftermarket control such as Tekmar or other, and the temperature outside is above warm weather shut down (WWSD), then the boiler will not operate for space heating, but will operate to make Domestic Hot Water (DHW) only. Generally speaking WWSD is facoty set at 20*C, since this is normal room temperature so the boiler will not need to operate at temperatures above this number as it is warm enough outdoors to heat the house to comfortable levels.
If your Vitodens 100 does not have outdoor temperature sensing capability then you should check to see if your room thermostats are operational and calling for heat since the boiler is only responding to this on-off control based on room temperature. (turn up your room thermostats)
In both cases you need to make sure that your heating system's distribution pump and zone valves are operating correctly.
In any case you should be calling a heating contractor if you suspect that there is a problem with your boiler and/or heating system.
Good luck.
