Question about Computers & Internet
I just bought a Compaq Presario CQ60 with free DOS. I instaled WIN
Vista but I couldn't use the mic. Also I connected external mic and
headphones but they, both, didn't worked. I instaled WIN Vista black
edition 2009, it works good as the normal Win Vista but the same
problem: mic doesn't work and also if I plug headphones and mic they
both don't work. Is there some setting I didn't do or I have to
download these settings or some software?
If I have to download some drivers, where from?
The guy who instaled it for me, both times, went on HP website and he has downloaded some drivers from there but still doesn't work

I had the same problem before but I'm so glad to share it with you people how I fixed it. I chatted with several people in hp but they adviced me to redo the installation of black vista which I disagreed. So I tried to find a solution for it and I fixed the problem by doing the following.
1. Control Panel
2. System and maintenance
3. Device Manager. On that you will be able to see 2 different audio device. First is generic sound driver (Hi-definition Multimedia Interface) which is integrated to black vista and the other one is nvdia HDMI(if you already installed it).
4. Disable the generic one (Hi-definition Multimedia Interface) NOT NVDIA.
5. After doing it go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-63166-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3804174&os=2093&lang=en click on install. It's should be
Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 Driver 6. Click on install and allow it to finish the installation.

Go to hp compaq site , select get support option, select live chat, there they will give you the link for the drivers

Also check you sound mixer, the mic is often muted by default to avoid feedback when it's not in use.
