On some of the games that my wife and I play[on the computer, haha], a warning will appear that our video card is old or inactive, for other games on the same website, the games work fine. I have contacted Acer about this problem and have not received a reply. It is just the video card that came with the system.

Try reinstalling the game itself, or checking for software updates. There could be a virus attached to your game files. Also, if your video card is out of date- your computer might not be able to handle the game.
The game your trying to play is a high end game and the video card might be out of date so would request you to check the system requirements of the game and then compare it with the video card your using.
Secondly, you have a capable video card but the drivers might be corrupted. This you can fix by downloading the correct drivers. For example- NVIDIA CARD needs Nvidia Driver and ati radeon card needs Omega drivers.
If you need more clarification then would request to reply me with the full name of the game and also the model number of the video card and the manufacturer which you can check by Right clicking on MY COMPUTER>>PROPERTIES
This issue occurs if the video card installed in the Computer doesn't meet the video requirements to play the game. You can visit the Computer's manufacturer website to check for any updated driver for the video card installed in the Computer.
did you fallow this minimum requirement for game OS: 2000/XP, CPU: 1.0 GHz, RAM: 256 MB, Video: 32MB, ATI Radeon 7500 or
GeForce 2 or greater, Intel i865g/nForce/Radeon 9100 onboard, Hard
Drive: 1580 MB or more
Find the manufacture and model of the video card (open the case up and look or look in the Control Panel/System)
Most likely your video card just does not have enough House Power to run the game. Since you don't say how old your system is or what the brand/model there is no way to find out. Also look on the build sheet/invoice that came with the PC when you bought it.
It is not the monitor that determines if your computer will play games; it is the video card, memory installed, and the processor. These minimum requirements are listed on the game box and each game has different requirements.
