Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T5 Digital Camera
Getting Error "C:13:01 Format Error" on LCD display when inserted Memory Stick PRO Duo card. Before this Error, I was getting "C:13:01 Re-insert the memory stick" and this was disappeared when I tried to reinsert the Memory stick 20 -30 times. Then I am getting this "C:13:01 Format Error".Internal memory(32MB) is working fine. When I took this to Sony service centre, I was told that this problem cannot be fixed, need to replace the entire circuit board which will be costing almost a new camera. Please help to resolve this issue.
I had the same problem, you can solve this by:
1. Push the card multiple times in/out the slot or
2. Use a little bit of contact spray on a small piece of tissue, rap this in the length around the memory card just 1 time. Be carefull not to make it to thick that it get stuck in the slot. Then push the card multiple times in/out the slot or
3. Cut a small strip of waterproof sanding paper (grain: 400 or more - the surface feels just like paper, and is just a thin as paper) just as wide as the card or slot. Cut a strip of plastic (eg.old credit card) also just as wide as the card or slot. Rap the sanding paper in the length of the strip and insert this in and out the slot. But!! ... make sure you stay at the upper side of the contacts, don't worry just do it carefully, don't use force and sand the contacts a couple of times. This way work for me, finally!!

The problem is basically the memory stick (MS) having loose contact with the camera's internal memory connectors either due to worn out MS plastic casing (making it thinner) or connector wear. The objective then would be to make the MS contacts closer/press against the internal camera connectors. An everyday scotch tape (perhaps a layer or 2) on top of the label side of the connector should do the trick. Just make sure the tape is thick enough, properly trimmed on all edges and sticky enough to avoid problems while inserting/removing the MS. Too thick would give you problems pulling out the MS so be careful. Hope this helps

I have been told that it is a dirty or bent connector inside the internal card reader. I think your service person would rather charge you for a full board than just clean or straighten the connector. Or he will just clean it and charge you for a board.
