Hi, Please read the entire text of this reply. thanks.

The reason for the system hang is a conflict in hardware. However since you have a notebook this is not easily resolved.

The solution would be to use the edition of W2K you are using, but if you can find a copy of W2K without a service pack, that may install for you.

The only other thing would be an improperly formatted hard drive. There is usually an option to allow the installer to format the hard drive. This may resolve your problem.

Otherwise, you are really between a rock and a hard place. You could try installing W98 and see if it will install no problems And if so, there may be a scratch or error on your CD for W2K and that may be at the root of your problem.

In any case, don't bother to rate this response. I would encourage you to post in the free forum to get more input and then if there is no response for a day, pay the $13 and get instant responses from many mostly qualified techs.

    Regards,
    Worldvet

Dear Sir, I have a compaq nc6000,who is always hanging after power on' pls sollution for how can i solve this hanging problem.

if you start up in safe mode(google how to for your model notebook, its usually hold f8 after pressing the power switch),do a virus scan in safe mode with networking with a program called malewarebytes (free version) to make sure you have no malware. also go to start>run>type in msconfig and press return. go to services and click hide all microsoft services. disable anything you may recognize in both services and startup (such as skype, adobe, msn messenger, google talk) then click apply and restart. if that doesnt fix it. get your windows cd and put it into your dvd drive on the notebook and let it boot into that.go through the options and click r to repair(assuming you have xp) and let that run.it should restart and you machine should be fixed

Hangs in the black windows xp startup screen and will not boot up in normal mode only the safe modes after power cycle

Try to start in safe mode (you said it will start in safe mode) Then do a system restore from there back to when it was working.
Should solve the problem.
I think something is trying to start up and messing up the boot-up process.

PC BOOTS HALF WAY

Try booting into safe mode. If it's a driver problem, safe mode will allow you to start Windows with only the bare minimum of hardware and drivers being engaged. To get to safe mode, press the F8 button on your keyboard during the Windows boot process until it takes you to a screen to let you select Normal, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, etc. I would suggest not using anything other than just Safe Mode. From there, uninstall any software or new drivers that you recently installed. Alternatively, you can use the System Restore feature to rollback to a previous restore point.

My pc doesn't startup up

I had this problem too but I then downloaded the most recent BIOS driver from the HP web site and that seems to be working. At least it now starts and boots correctly but I still have the problem that it tends to hangs up after a short while.

My toshiba satellite laptop is getting hanged very frequently can say every 2 min. Can any one help me out how to solve this problem

Try Booting int safe mode with networking

(Tap F8 while turning on your computer, don't stop tapping F8 until you get to the Advanced Boot Option window. Use your Up & Down arrows to get to Safe Mode With Networking and hit enter, enter to you Operating System and sign in as Admin or Owner)

Once in Safe Mode with networking see if the PC hangs on you.

open you Internet and download MalwareBytes to help remove any Malware that might be hanging you computer in normal mode

http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button
(copy & paste link above into address bar)

After running MalwareBytes in safe mode re boot your computer into normal mode and run a MalwareBytes scan in normal Mode until no Malware is found

Good Luck

I want to install xp on existing vista, also wanted to remove vista on hp dv2000 labtop

If Vista it is working well on Safe Mode, you have to check it out what is going wrong there instead of downgrade the system to XP.

Remember: Which was the last program that you've installed?

When was the last time that the system started normally?

You can try uninstalling the last programs

Also clean the computer and be sure that your pc is not virus or spyware infected.
