Default region code for the drive is 1 but make sure you dont need to change the region code again and again ... coz it gives you only 3 trys and than you will have to flash it with the firmware again .... in some scenarios that too doesnt work so you will be wasting a drive so plz try avoiding the scenario where you have to change the code

You will need to get a second dvd player locally to play those movies. Some DVD players allow you to change region codes but limit you to 5 changes, it locks in on the 5th.

SAMSUNG HR733 DVD RECORDER WILL NOT PLAY ANY REGION DISCS AT ALL

On page 45 of the user manual it says this:

Both the HDD & DVD RECORDER and the discs are coded
by region. These regional codes must match in order for the
disc to play. If the codes do not match, the disc will not play.
The Region Number for this HDD & DVD RECORDER is
described on the rear panel of the HDD & DVD RECORDER

If you changed the region codes on your player it will not work. They should be set back to 1 or whatever your model says on the back of the unit.

If this unit was purchased outside the United States, it may not work in the United States.

Here is a copy of the manual if you need it:
