Question about Epson Perfection 3490 Flatbed Scanner

Program won't completely install

I've tried seven ways to Sunday to install the creativity suite for this scanner. The "Attach to Email" part installs correctly, but the other three utilities get a "component transfer error". I've tried completely uninstalling the program, but the Attach to email part will not completely uninstall either using uninstall, Add/remove programs or deleting from registry. Status bar goes halfway across then just disappears.
Attached are screen shots of error messages on installation.
I've contacted Epson and all they say is reinstall my operating system. Running Windows xp home, Dell Dimension 8200, connected via usb. I am owner/administrator (the ONLY one) since build date June 2002.
I've looked all over the net for a solution but have found nothing as to the cause or solution.
Help?

What i can suggest is that you download the latest drivers from the epson website,also check if your operating system is uptodate with the latest patches and updates..

One overlooked reason for getting access denied and/or other problems when installing software is the existence of a file that needs to be replaced but can't be due to a read-only attribute. This most often occurs in the %SystemRoot% directory and its' sub-directories. To display the files in your NT directory that have the read-only attribute, type:
dir %systemroot%\*.* /ar /s
You can remove the read-only attribute from a file by using the attrib command. To remove the read-only attribute from all files in the NT directory and sub-directories, type:
attrib -r %systemroot%\*.* /s i the run command..hope it helps!

Find program called hpscan in your list of all programs to scan to file.
This is usually what it is called with hp scanners
Note the directory that the file is scanned and saved to .
and then attach file to email message using attach file option on email program when you compose email message.

Driver for windows seven (7)


Hi prof_el7ob ,
The latest to be found is for XP . It won't work under 7 . Try installing a Virtual version of XP on your system : http://download.cnet.com/VMware-Player/3000-2094_4-10470784.html
Or purchase a W 7 compatible replacement device .

I get 2/3rds of the way into installing the software and driver with the set-up disc that came with the Epson V500 Scanner, then a Error Pop Up message appears saying the following. Could Not Copy...


Check that it is installing to the correct file. Normally C Drive "Program files" I would suggest you go to the control panel and locate and completely uninstall the Epson scanner program first. This will give you a clean install. Check that during the installation, the disc may ask where you want the program to be installed. If it has a suggestion, let it instal itself, where it thinks is best.

There are no more drivers for this scanner under Windows Seven .
If you have Win XP install disc , you can install a virtual version of XP on your existing HDD with WMware Player , for instance . It's free and works fine and is the only way to get your device running if you don' t want to by a new one .

I'm afraid there are no drivers running under Windows Seven for this unit.
If you have the W XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD (
http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0 )
You could also partition your HDD (
http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html ) and install W XP on the new one .
Otherwise , you will have to buy a new scanner .

I tried installing the HP scanjet 5590 scanner on a pC but it jut shows that it is installing and stays there forever. Anyone knows ow to solve this problem? PLS help-thanks in advance.


1) HOW MUCH COMPUTER MEMORY DDR MEMORY DOES YOUR COMPUTER HAVE INSTALLED?

2) HOW MUCH FREE SPACE IS ON YOU CURRECT HARD DRIVE?

3) TURN OFF YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE AND SPYWARE DETECTORS THEN DO THE FOLLWOING:

A) UNPLUG SCANNER FROM COMPUTER
B) MAKE SURE THE ANTI-VIRUS AND SPYWARE DETECTION SOFTWARE IS TURNED OFF FOR THIS INSTALL.
C) INSTALL SOFTWARE FROM ORIGINAL CD/DVD
D) ATTACH SCANNER AND ALLOW IT TO DETECT THE SCANNER AND ALLOW IT TO SEARCH FOR BEST DRIVER.

Hi this is from chennai... i have hp scanjet g3110 .. it was worked good till before october.. now the software didnt open..i had installed the software many times.. no response... i had installed updated...


first before installing any software turn off you anti-virus program.
next uninstall the scanners software completly before installing a new copy to do this just goto control panel select program and features. then select the hp program for the scanner and double click on uninstall.

then do the following:
1) disconect the scanner from the computer.
2) insert the disk that came with the scanner.
3) attach scanner and allow it to find new driver.
4) scanner should work.

Hi Malik Nasir,
How are you? I hope everything is going well. My friend, first install its scanner's software without attach scanner. After the complete installation, attach scanner with your PC, then it will be detect automatically and then it will detect drivers and the issue will be resolve.

After complete installation take a reboot either software not required.

You will have to uninstall the device. Delete any files it created on the drive as part of the install. (Not things you'[ve scanned, just program files) then disconnect the scanner. Reattach the scanner in a different USB port (different SCSI id if your using SCSI) and let Windows re-detect the scanner.

This time don't run the setup from the driver CD. Instead let Windows find the scanner and try and set it up on it's own, if it prompts you for a driver, point it to the INF file in the installer directory. If it doesn't, let it use the one it chooses.

After installing in this way you should be able to use the scanner as a TWAIN source from any application.

HP F2280 won?t scan multiple pages into a PDF file


I fixed this by Installing the full suite of programmes on the installation CD, specifically Installing the "OCR Isis" programme (or Iris, not sure).

I had the scan-to-pdf option, but then when I reinstalled my system it was no longer available. I tried updating Adobe Acrobat reader to v9.0 and I don't think this fixed it. But at the same time I installed the "extra" programmes of the HP Installation CD, and then the scan-to-PDF feature was back.

So basically, install the COMPLETE set of programmes on the HP installation CD seemed to fix this.

I have a HP Deskjet F2180 printer, but I suspect that the HP software is generic across alot of its product range.
