Lens/ resolution problem

I have just returned from vacation and i am having problems with my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 Digital Camera. I took beautiful pictures before with beautiful resolution, but i don't why now when i turn the power on the screen's image is very blurry with low resolution and the lens makes a slight sound. Is it possible that i got sand in the lens which is causing the problem or is it something to do with the options? I would be grateful if anyone could help.
