Question about Nikon F3 35mm Film Camera

1 Answer

Love my F3 but ready to go digital....

My F3 is in mint condition and I am still in love with it. I don't use it as much as I used to and am ready to go digital. Want to keep it fun and easy, any recommendations? I was thinking maybe Nikon D60 or D80? Any idea what I can get for my F3? I" may just keep it for sentimental reasons :)
Thanks!

Hi!
I think if you want to keep it fun and easy you won't go wrong with a D80. All considered, it's a competent package compatible with the autofocus lenses you may have for your F3. If you can spring for it, a D90 is much more appealing.
As for your F3, I suggest you keep it. There's nothing like the clack of an analog SLR.
Hope this helps!

Camera doesn't turn on

Try to clean the corrosion off the battery contacts. If not give it to Nikon they may be a little expensive but they will restore the camera to it's original condition.

Which film in nikon f3?

The Nikon F3 uses standard 35mm film, also known as 135. The type of film you use is up to you. You can use black&white film, color transparency (color slides), or color negative (color prints). Prints are generally cheaper than slides but slide films generally produce better results, and prints can be made from slides. You can also make black&white pictures from color films, though obviously you can't go the other way.
These films are available in a variety of speeds. Faster films let you shoot in lower light and/or with a faster shutter speed for stopping action, but slower films have finer grain. Different films also have different color properties. No film (or digital sensor, for that matter) reproduces every color exactly. You may need to experiment in order to see which film gives you the colors you like for the types of pictures you like to take.

Can Nikon F3 lenses be used on a digitial Nikon body?

Yes and no. The lenses will fit with no problem.

On DX cameras (everything except the D700 and the D3 series) the smaller sensor causes the lenses to seem longer. A 50mm lens on a digital body will give you about the same image as a 75mm lens would on a film body.

Older non-CPU lenses do not have the electronics to communicate with a newer camera. On some of these cameras you won't be able to use the camera's light meter.

Hi i recently bought a used F3/T. Just ran a 36 exp roll and everything seemed to work fine. However i realized on loading a new roll, that the film counter did not reset. It remains at frame 37. How can i...

This won\'t be easy for you if you don\'t the proper tools, You have to remove the wind lever assy, and the speed dial, Then wind side top cover, Then pull wind base plate assy, And check counter reset lever, to make sure spring didn\'t come loose, Putting the baseplate back on can be fun because of linkage to the wind assy

The old canon A1

Dear FreshEarth,
This is definately not a common problem the battery under normal use should last about a year. I beleive what is causeing this is you either have the exposure preview switch or the exposure memory switch turned on causeing the exposure meter to be taking a reading all the time and draining the battery. Those switches are located on the front of the camera to the left of the lens. If this doesn't resolve the issue I would have the camera looked at by an camera repair technician.

Sincerely,
Agent Allan
