Linksys Wireless Adapter WUSB54G not recognized by windows

For some reason windows isn't recognizing my wireless adapter, everytime I plug it in the little dialog pops up saying "Found New Hardware" then gives me another dialog saying "a problem occurred during installation, your new hardware might not work properly". I've got the driver installed for the little adapter as well as (obviously) the USB driver, so im at a loss right now. Any help is appreciated.

Need working Windows 7 driver for Linksys WUSB54G V.1.0 Adapter

This driver should work with Vista, and based on the FAQ it should work with 64-bit although it wasn't designed for the 64-bit OS.

If the link doesn't work, let me know. I'll direct you to the download page to retrieve the driver.

Computer shuts off/reboots when Linksys is plugged in via UBScord

you may be using the wrong driver for the wireless adapter youre using. pls check or update the driver for your wireless adapter. it is niormal for the computer to reboot after initial installation of the drivers but with your case, you may be using the wrong drivers because the computer reboots whenever you plug it in.

Problem connecting linksys wusb54g wireless to internet.

Sounds like you need to reboot the router and probably the cable modem. Unplug both, wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in. It can't hurt anything and it solves this problem 90% of the time.

Cannot Communicate from Computer to Computer

A connection from USB adapter directly to USB adapter may or may not be possible. Borrow a wireless router from someone and use it to test supporting connections to your two computers. I think you will find this a much easier way to proceed. Routers can be had for $40 or less. Shop around.

Good Luck

Can not connect adapter to laptop no installation CD-Rom

you have to install the driver for it to work and i assume that is not the case as you have no cd. Go here to download the driver. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109934&packedargs=sku%3D1134691790190&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0993490190B03 When installed go to the properties of your adapter in network connections, then click on tcp/ip line and then properties and ensure obtain ip address automatically is ticked and press ok. You may also have to use the home network connection wizard if you havent previously to share documents over your network.
