Question about HP Officejet Pro L7580 All-In-One InkJet Printer
New HP Officejet Pro has a problem with print heads.
Display error message of
"The following printhead(s) has a problem Black/Yellow[K/Y]."
No tweeking with the printheads works.
Simple solution is:
Replace the Black and Yellow Print Catridges. The print heads are mounted to the bottom of the catridges and these, depending on whther they're from HP or not. can have a hard time conducting electricity properly, and in turn.. spitting ink out properly.
Also happens often with aftermarket Catridges because HP puts chips on the catridge. be sure to put an HP catridge. Sometimes you get what you pay for :)

I read all the blogs and forums regarding this issue. There are lots of comments. The suggestions/solutions from HP technical support were especially lame. My Officejet Pro L7555 from Costco had run flawlessly for 4,000+ copies. I replaced various inkjet cartridges along the way but never had any trouble with the printheads. Then one day I got the "The following printheads has a problem...black/yellow. Took out the printhead and cleaned the contacts(several times) as recommended and then started to get the same message for both printheads...black/yellow & cyan/magenta. Tried all the power reset suggestions and was about to order new printheads when I tried a new twist on a combination I had seen in some previous blogs/forums. THE SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME: With power ON, unplugged the power cord for about 15 mins, then plugged it back in while holding the"#" & "6" keys on the front panel of the printer. Came on and went through a long cycle(5 mins) that included printing a couple of pages I had never seen before. Think they were alignment pages. Everything seemed to work fine now. Not sure what the "#" & "6" sequence did but also had seen a reference to using "#" & "7" instead. I think it is a partial reset but whatever, it solved my problem and saved me $120+ I would have spent buying new print heads. Hope this will help someone else.
